Discovery for a Newbie
« on: August 06, 2009, 05:30:14 AM »
I have been looking to getting into air rifles for a while now. I have looked at multi pumps, springers and pcps.  I like the idea of shooting multiple time on a single charge.  How is the noise level?  Is it too loud to be shot in the back yard?  Neighbors are fairly close....

Have there been any issuse with the Discovery?  Is this a good rifle to get started on?  Are there any other recommendations?

I thought of the Marauder but the $499 + $200 for pump price tag is too high.  I found a web site that has the Discovery + Pump for $345 shipped.

Hi David,,,,  welcome to GTA ,,,, great to have you with us  :)

As for the disco.......  the disco is a great package to get started with.  The disco is a nice rifle with plenty of power and accuracy and the best part is that the package deal comes with the pump so you're all set to shoot as soon as you  receive it.  As for the noise,,,,,  yes, in stock form it is to loud to shoot in the back yard if you have neighbors close by that you're concerned about.  However, remember,, that's in "stock form" ,,,,,  ;)

The disco is great for target shooting and also a more than capable hunting rifle if you are a hunter  (which I hope you are).  That price you found is a very good price.  If you want to get into PCP's my advice would be to jump on that disco.  I used to have a disco, it's a neat "all in one" package that is great for people new to PCP's.....

I'll be looking forward to your future posts...

Jeff

Thanks for the info.  I do hunt, but mainly with my bow or centerfire rifles.  Maybe I'll check out Mac1 and get some more info.

That is the same question that I keep asking myself.
