Has anybody made a keyway release
« on: February 21, 2007, 01:41:27 AM »
for the QB-78 to dump the excess gas from the chamber similar to the QB-79 (I think that's the one of them that has it). Mike... if anybody has done it, it's probably you. Perhaps a how to "some instructions or diagrams"  would be nice. Gonna post this in the shop also.

Yup... that's what I've been doing and you are right... it does work. :D  It just takes a lot longer when you want to dump the last of it out when it gets low. Of course when I'm done shooting, I leave the last bit in it to keep it under a little pressure.. I did see a post somewhere some time ago about it being done though and I have 3 QB-78's and a Model "T" but none with the key.

I've had some requests for a key type release, it wouldn't be hard to do but with what few tools I have it's hard to do right. Biggest thing is to find the right spot in the side of the tube to put a hole, 1/4 inch would do it and just use a phillips screwdriver to jettison the load. The leverage is there do to the short distance in the tube. The "real" ones use a key that turns with a small knob on it that catches the back side of the hammer.

a great guy to work with. He and I go back several years and have done a lot of info trading over the years as well as a few other things. And he does know how to make the QB's sing to his tunes.
