Just for grins
« on: August 14, 2009, 03:08:17 PM »
:)

New ambi stock for the 10/22.  Going to keep the OEM barrel for now, and stick with the see-through mounts and the Bushnell 3-9X Sportview. I lost the "Rambo-esque" folding stock.  It never fit me that well even when I shot RH.  Going to shoot some CSI subsonic, CSI HiVelocity and Wolf MatchTarget ammo tomorrow and see what the old 10/22 will do.  I bought the 10/22 sometime around 1983 or 84.  So I guess the new stock is her 25 anniversary present.

Yep.  I really like those mounts, too, Randall.  Good choice, even if you have the front ring on backwards.  I see your serial # is 246 xxxx.  Mine is 123 xxx.  Have you made any other modifications?

No other mods. just the barrel and trigger.. this gun is old also... I can see that yours is an earlier model than mine... you should check out the Volquartsen upgrades that are available for the little guns... some cool stuff.

im definitly have to move out toward the south cause nyc anit nothin .we cant even  own a sling shot .tcups and quest those r awsome pieces is ammo easy to get for them. im moving to maine within a year and that sounds like a plan to have those 10/22 i learned on a 30/30 winchester western style 7 shots then a 16 guage  mossberg pistol grip shotgun.then the rest were 380,s and one 9mm 23 glock but the trigger was very light..those got me grinning for sure .

Ho-leee-kow!

Why would I change this barrel?  It just took loading up some Wolf Match Target this morning to find out that my vintage Ruger 10/22 is shooting MOA without any further modifications.  The trigger could be a bit lighter, but what the heck.  Seems like a pretty nice little carbine just the way she is.

Well, almost . . .  0.55" CTC at 50 yards, benched, front rest.  Wolf Match Target ammo, 40 gr I think.  Nothing less than 1" with either CCI MiniMag High Velocity or CCI Subsonic 40 gr ammo, though.  My finger was hovering over an AlumaLite 0.920 bull barrel for $225 just last night.  I suppose I will save the money and order up a case of Wolf Match Target ammo.  Similar results with the Browning A-Bolt, but I lost the ideal light and windless conditions by the time I got back around to testing the Wolf ammo in the Browning.

Hey Tommy, Thats a NICE Stock, Like your setup! Have the Green Mountain fluted bull barrel and Hogue stock on mine, and it likes the CCI Standard Vel, and the Wolf Match Target..

My order for 1,000 rounds of 223 Rem Hornady V-Max 55 gr. from Georgia Arms finally came last week.  First chance I have had to try it out in the CZ-527 Varmint.  The CZ seems to like Black Hills 52 gr BTHP, but it has been hard to find.  I hoped I wouldn't be disappointed with Georgia Arms canned heat.  But the first 5 rounds I tried this morning all shot about 1 inch low.  Maybe I should send it back  :emoticon:
