do rubber tire plugs go bad
« on: August 15, 2009, 05:43:17 AM »
I am sort of on a clean up jag which I never finish. I found a couple of open packages of the rubber tire repair plugs. I know the cement solvent evaporates but do the patches stay useable. I get sort of tired and annoyed buying a complete repair kit if I need it. The kits seem cheaper than the individual parts. How many of the reamers and plug pullers do you need?

Hey John,

I get the replacement plugs from Walmart, in a 6 pack, I only have one set of reamers and plug pullers.. I have never had to replace one in all the years that I have used them, the tires wear out before they can go bad !

I try to buy new plugs every time I need them, unless it has only been a year or two since I bought them. I would not want to try to get one out and replace it, if that were even possible.

The peace of mind that I have knowing that I am using new stock is well cheaper than buying a new tire !!!!!

I just like to feel I am using up rather than just throwing stuff out.   Hopefully I will find the ones I have when I need them-LOL.  If I store them with the allen wrenches I will lose them all for sure and end up buying wrenches and patches.
