co2 adaptor
« on: August 15, 2009, 01:13:17 PM »
This question may have been answered already but I have not found it.
Can the co2 adapter screw on to a paint ball HPA tank ?
If so would the add adapter length cause a problem?

AirForce co2 adaptor?

You don't mention which, but that's probably the one you mean.

9oz., 12 oz, and 20 oz. co2 paintball tanks are all about the same length, it's the thickness that makes for the volume changes....so they all end up about the same length, and about as long as the issue PCP air tank.

IF the HPA tank is about the same length as paintball tank, then it wouldn't change the length of pull much....but the diameter would make getting your face down low enough (or the scope jacked up high enough) a possible problem.  Are some short regulators and some long ones, so even with the same basic sized tank, which regulator is being used can add or subtract a bit of length.

That's pretty close to pantball co2 height (about 11 1/2 to 12") and not much off the diameter of a 20oz., so it should work.

What is the reuglator's out put pressure?

The tank that I have is a DXS hpa tank 3000 psi 45 cu and from what info that I could find the regulator is a 800 - 900 psi output which is not going to work on the Talon ss that I am looking at.
Paint ball shop is local but scuba shops are not.

It would work.  Speeds would be about the same as co2 (maybe 4-8% higher, thin air flows more easily that thicker co2).  So long as it the weather is  warm, just use CO2.

Only the specailty airgun air-tanks will be regged to higher pressure (Expert Air or JDS Airman), and as you'd guess, they will be more expensive than that  paintball shop tank.

Thanks Dean for the info. I guess I will have to look into a compressor or make long trips to scuba shops if I find one that will fill my tanks.

Did try a 22CI HPA bottle.  Lengthed the pull a bit more than I liked, which made the rifle feel awakward, and was a pain to fill with a hand pump.

Gave one of my 13Ci bottles a try, but had to add a brass on/off to get the length near right.  Wasn’t bad to fill with a hand pump, but somehow just looked “wrong”.

Neither one really gave a great shot count, were regged to 850psi so speed wasn’t much more than co2, but was consistent and worked fine in winter.

So i just stick to co2 and shoot something else when it gets cold.
