Pickled Okra

I used Lady Bird Johnsons reciepe and made me some jars of the good stuff...My plants are puttin out about 15 ta 17 a day now so I needed something ta do with them..I used Nelsons tiawon firecracker peppers and a lot of dill, with a few garlic cloves, and a bit of basil leaves.... Now comes the long wait till its done...

You waited too long to pick the okra . That looks like it's almost seed stock. LOL I prefer it smaller and more tender . Looks yummy though . kirby

 Kirby I have a strain of okra that allows me to let them get bigger than normal... I have been using these same seeds year after year.. They get huge and are still tender... Thats the way its done.. Find a good strain of plants and get rid of the rest... Thes grew fruit till december 10 last year when the friek snow down here in south texas killed my mother plant... she lived 2 years and kicked out the fruit like a candy machine....

Could it be?????? "Clemson Spineless"??? They can get pretty good size & not have "Poly Rope" in em!!:p Man that Okra sure looks good Buddy!!:D Does the $10 a jar include shipping??8) Lemmie know as we both have a Buddy in the upstate of SC I would LOVE to have Ya send some to!!8) Word on the street is: "Papa Bear" LOVES him some okra!!:D Tim.

You just wait until I slide over to Texas for a visit! I WILL be bringing home some of that okra!!!

I just had a buddy in Arkansas that is a retired Chef in Nawlins box up and send me a whole bunch of pickled watermelon rind with cherries, corn chow chow, pickled peppers, and all kinds of other stuff for FREE, and the runt little Breaux has the nerve to CHARGE me!!! Oh no you don't!

Oh MAN!!! I haven't had pickled okra since I was livin back in Oklahoma!!! How much you want for a jar or 2 shipped to Ca?!?!?!?


Now if I can find a good recipe for Relish I'll be ALL GOOD!!!

The best okra are about the size of your thumb. I love okra and when someone comes to my house they leave me pickled okra as a house warming present..:) I eat it all..:)  Lots of okra growers here in the south. I will pick up a few lbs and come home and clean and trim em up and put in the freezer for the winter months....:)
