Front Sight Hood, difficulty installing
« on: August 18, 2009, 12:06:26 PM »
I just received the front sight hood from Gamo. I'd lost a front sight on my air rifle several years ago by using a chicken wire fence to support the barrel. When I stood up the sight caught on it and tore it off, the red sight piece lost and gone forever.

This hood looks like it'll protect the sight perfectly, but I can't figure out a safe way to get the darn thing on. It's a pretty strong steel piece, not too crazy about bending it much to fit. Anyone else installed one of these? Is it as simple as gently prying it with pliers and slotting it in its grooves?

Thanks very much.

PS: Just installed a GRT-III and a new Shadow stock from Gamo and my old Hunter 220 feels like a brand new gun! Can't wait to have a new-to-me scope installed when I get a new high mount for it.

I don't have a hood onthe front sight, but I have had several for powder burners ! Yes, if you can get your needle nosed pliers, or better yet, if you have a pair of small flat pliers, you can spread the hood and slip it into the groves. That has worked for me in the past.
