Today is 8-20-09. It has been almost 3 weeks since my wife injured her leg and had to be hospitalized due to complications from a blood clot and infection. She was in a hospital that specializes in severe burns and wound care.
But this note is not about that so much as it is a reminder to all to appreciate your family and friends and strive to keep them safe. While my wife was in the hospital I made many trips to the burn ward to visit her. Since her release I escorted her for follow up appointments . I had the opportunity to see many individuals with severe burns and other wounds. The patients with the burns make you hurt on the inside for them and thier families. Young, old, men, women, all walks of humanity. Many missing limbs. Either burned off or surgically removed due to the damage done by the burns. Faces burned off. Thier skin had the look of having melted. The thing that I noticed about them was they never complained. No *_*_*_*_*_*ing, no whining as they sat in thier wheel chairs or lay in the hospital beds waiting treatment. But they somehow had good spirits about them, a good attitude.
I can state without a doubt that they are better human beings than most. They have the real courage to face thier ordeals on a daily basis. I have no problems.
