It seems that Dave Miller the original Moderator of the Hunting Gate is not coming on very much any more so Bob and I have given Jeff some help and competition..:)  Anyway, Ed has taken an interests in the Moderators for the Hunting Gate position and is one of those guys who goes out at midnight and hunts Fox's and other varments in sub-0 degree weather.. LOL

Congratulations Ed

Great choice Gene/Bob !!!  :)

Ed is definately one fine fellow with an absolute passion for hunting and the skills to go with it !!  It will certainly be an honor for me to work with Ed moderating the Hunting Gate :)

Welcome my fellow hunter,,,, and I'm still waiting for that "meals on wheels" rabbit dinner you mentioned.  I think FEDEX overnight could probably get her done.............

"Anyone have a recipe for metal and rubber. "

I dunno about an exact recipe, but there's a dead armadillo that could probably tell ya what my SUV tasted like at 65mph:)

Jeff, got you a ARMADILLO RECIPE. Baked or BBQ, 2lbs armadillo meat, 1 stick butter, lemon juice, dash of onion salt, salt to taste, pepper to taste. Season with salt, lemon pepper, lemon juice and rub with butter. Wrap in foil and bake at 325 deg. for about 45 min. Remove foil add more butter and brown. For BBQ , baste with BBQ sauce over grill after removing foil. Now we just need to find a armadillo, Dano , 2 armadillo's please, tire tenderized hehe. Ed

Hay Jeff,

From what I remember from survival training,, every mammal, bird, and marsupial are eatable. Now I can't tell ya that they'll taste real  good,, but if you put enough salt, pepper, and ketchup on anything, it'll do.
Watch out for the male platypus, he carries a poison spur on his paw, cut it off an he's fit for eaten too.

Ya gotta watch out for some of them bugs and reptiles though, they ain't allways too good fer ya.
But if ya know the good ones, their tasty, even raw !

Keep er huntin,

Welcome Ed,

I look forward to reading your exploits in hunting, as well as your fine photographs of those eaten critters you shoot.

I believe they are edible Jeff.  I've heard of a few people who eat them.  Protected, I dunno, maybe.  You wouldn't want to hunt them with an air rifle most likely though unless you could always bank a headshot, those armor plates are tough!  The one I hit last year with my Mitsubishi Montero looked as if it weighed maybe 8-10 pounds (hard to judge at 65mph), but when I hit it I coulda sworn I ripped the suspension off my SUV.  It didn't actually do any damage, but a Montero sits pretty high.  I was out in the middle of no-where, so I just kept driving till I got to the next gas station before I looked for damage.  It really felt like I hit a bowling ball in the road, I mean it scared the beegeezuz outa me like the next move was the car blowing up!!!  I just kept watching engine temp in case the oil pan got ripped off engine temp would be a quick indication I would think without looking.  Drove about 10 more miles before I got out to look, and nothing that I could see was wrong.  Friends of mine told me I shoulda turned around to pick it up to eat, that's why I think people do eat them.  Pretty much a giant rat like a possum, but with armor:)
