Glad that's working out for you, don't really see how it couldn't! It looks perfect with that scope, and seems to be working!

I have been thinking about another .22, to set up for night defense. I want to keep #39 bone stock, but it is tempting to play with a replacement stock, some night camo and illumination, and maybe night vision someday. This rifle was made to rule the night as well as day. I don't want to put an NV scope on a springer.

I second the idea of the tank. Just too easy.

There have been some interesting posts about opening up the baffles to decrease pellet sensitivity of this rifle. Personally, I am happy shooting CPs all day long, but the theory goes that the tight clearance of baffles to skirt may cause turbulence thatdestabilizes some pellet types. I would want Mac1's take on that but I think he was leaning in that direction, as well. So far, mine ain't broke so I'm not fixing it, but it's an interesting theory.

having a hard time picking the caliber... i like to target shoot at home, pest control my yard, and would like to shoot it in field target... .177 or .22? are they just as quiet? how far can you shoot the .22?

I chose the .22 and had it tuned by Mac1. I am shooting the kodiak extra heavy pellets (22.1gr) and the gun is silent. It is as accurate as shooting a laser. I can put my crosshairs on the target, out to about 80 yards and get an immediate kill. I also have a RWS Diana 460 magnum, which I love, that can also shoot that distance. The difference between the two is incredible. I have to use the mil dot adjustment to hit that far with the 460....its a straight on shot with the Marauder. I can hit and puncture the can on a stick at 100 yards with the 460, the Marauder knocked down the can and post like it was hit with a football! Also, there is virtually no recoil at all with the Marauder...

Tim at Mac1 also made a good point about buying an airtank instead of a pump. I am so glad that he did. I cannot say enough good things about my Marauder. It is like shooting a 22 rifle with a sliencer. I was told buy it, you wont regret it. I thought I would spend approximately $700...I ended up spending $1000....rifle, scope, pellets, tank, yoke. I am soooo glad that I did. The only thing that I don't like about the Marauder, is that I don't want to shoot my other guns anymore. There is simply no comparison. I researched and debated for several months before I purchased. I have no regrets at all. Having Tim at Mac1 go over your rifle and fine tune it is money well spent.

Did I mention that I love my Marauder?

I pretty much always pick .22 so maybe I am not a good one to ask. Any one of my guns is likely to be pointed at a critter (whether food or pest) and I like the extra edge. I don't shoot FT, but don't some guys prefer the higher retained energy of the .22 for knockdowns? I just like coming a little closer to rimfire performance with a gun that can produce these power levels. Fewer "hop offs" in the field.

That said, for yard pests of a reasonable size, the .177 would scream out of a Marauder and probably do the job on anything you're likely to encounter at yard ranges. You would have a flatter trajectory so less compensation for distances, in target. Plus, there would be cheaper pellets.

When I look at the cost of pellets, especially versus rimfire and centerfire ammo, I don't consider it much of an issue. It might add up over time if you shoot a lot but what the heck.

From what I have read, they are about equally quiet. They are really really quiet. If anything the .22 would be a little louder, and believe me, it is the quietest gun you'll find.

What did the guy at Mac1 do and what is the difference now? Am still new to this and wondering if the custom stuff is really worth getting.

The price difference was only about $50, Tim adjusts your trigger, slightly widens the baffles within the shroud, reworks the crown and test fires it. I think that there are a couple of things in addition that he does...I just can't think of them. I would recommend that you load up on Beeman Kodiak extra heavies as well...they shoot very well. I enjoy knowing that the gun is going to work very well when I recieve it.
