How bout yours? While adjusting the velocity, hammer preload, and hammer stroke...I found that the hammer strokeadjustment screw is already adjusted counterclockwise as far as it can go. The manual tells me that to increase the length of thehammer stroke, you adjust that screw counterclockwise...well I cant turn it CCW only CW. Whats up with this? Anyone know?

Right on Tim!!!! YEAH!!! I want this baby to have full power. I turned my velocity screw out about 4.25 turns from its seat, then adjthe hammer spring preload by about 1.5 turns CW. I need a little more velocity...so I guess I'm left with turning the hammer spring preload another few increments CW to see if that will bring her up a little. I want her to shoot CP .22 at about 900~950...I understand that any more than that, the pellets start to go wacky.

Good luck with the tuning Dave!! I will say this,,, mine loved CP,s (22) untill I got over 900 fps. They started to open up a tad after that. I adjusted up even higher trying to get JSB,s up to 900 (16 gr.) & Cp,s were 950-970 ish,, man them CP,s DID NOT LIKE that & opened up like a shotgun!!It liked JSB heavys 18 gr I think,,, but REALLY LOVES 21 gr Kodiaks now for shure!!It just stacks Kodiaks at ALL ranges now on full wide open settings & I get 25 33-35 ft. lb. shots!!Honest. Have fun Buddy,,,,,, Tim.

Thanx Tim...I've got some Kodiaks, but they are precious and expensive compared to the CPs. The JSBs are too expensive for me. I buy the CP Ultra Magnums that come 500 to a tin. They shoot just like the ones that come in the brown box. As soon as I see some ground squirrels, I'll try a few Kodiaks for fun.

Mine was also already the max counter-clockwise.  I figure I just have to play around with it to get what I want.

dw33, from what I gatherfrom the manual, that screw is already adjusted as far as it can go(counterclockwise)...meaning that the striker is hitting as hard as it possibly can. If you adjust it inward(clockwise) then you lessen the amount of force that the hammer hits with...therefore decreasing velocity in the long run. I wantedto increase velocity(of course!!!)...

Now the only things left to possibly adjust are the preload and velocity limiter screw. I opened up the velocity screw all the way...so now I've only got the preload to play with. I got it shooting CPs at 940fps and I guess I'll keep it that way for now. But I can still turn the preload by another two turns...so....

How do you know when you max out the preload (clockwise)?  I thought I did this, but mine shows signs of valve lock.  I haven't had time to play with it, and the temps will have to go down before I will go outside and adjust the settings.  A 109 today, which is too darn hot.

I put the 1/8th allen wrench in there and tried to turn it CCW but it wouldnt go. But when I tried CW, it turned easily...soI turned it CW about 1 turn. Then I went back CCW and it turned 1 turn and stopped as if it had met a lot of resistance. So I had reached the end of the screw's travel in the CCW direction.

When you max out the preload, the gun probably won't cock-the spring should be coil-bound at that point!

BTW, the out-of-the-box settings on my .22 Marauder were fully out on the hammer stroke,  ~4 turns in on the spring preload, and 3 turns out on the transfer port (velocity limiter).

That is a common find on the hammer throw being all the way out, that is the way mine was also.
I adjusted my velocity limiter all the way out. The only thing I have to do is adjust the preload to the the FPS I want out of
the CP's. On a side note, I have found that the 14.3 CP's do not like the velocity much over 850. They tend to start getting very squirrelly at 900.
The best performing pellet I have found has been the Kodiack extra heavy at 21.1. Very accurate in the Maudy and you can crank her all the way open without trouble. 30+ FPE
