I just got my New MM B26-2 in .22 with B26 stock.
« on: August 31, 2009, 12:40:18 PM »
I only had 3 different tins of pellets.  Daisy .22  pointed that I bought for $1.50 , JSB jumbo express and Predators.  I figured that I needed to break the gun in so I shot the daisys'.   Grouped about three inches at 20 yards (however, all around the Bullseye very even)  I shot as long as I could with these groups and finally had to try the JSB's .  3 shots will touch or put in same hole.  5 shots with my limited ability are still 3/8 to 1/2.  Predators shoot the same group just different impact.  I have got to find a cheaper pellet to plink with.  Darn you Mike Melick for selling me such an accurate rifle and getting me hooked.  Just kidding Thanks   GREAT RIFLE could not be more pleased.

I've been having some trouble getting good groupings with my b26-2.  I've tried rws superdomes, gamo match and hunters.  They're all ok, but nothing I would call a "good group".  I am hesitant to blame the gun, it's probably just me.  I have to learn how to hold this thing, as I imagine this is the problem.  I tried a bench and full stock rest, but it was worse with the stock rest.

My best shots I've found are shot from a prone position.

my b26 in .177 loves CPHP's.  will try them in .22        will try the daisy wad cutters also.  My B25 likes them pretty well.   I was just amazed that the .22 B26 was able to shoot so well right off the bat.  I think it might out shoot my .177 at 20 yds. (well I know it will with JSB or Predators) vs. (the CPHP's in .177) not putting these down.

Mike has a good post a few posts back on holding a B28,  works for the b26 for me also.  I am new to spring guns and still learning.  My B26 .177 does not like the superdomes or any gamo (except Red line).  The walmart CPHP's shoot darn good.  as well as predators.  Is your gun .177 or .22 ?

Mine's a .22  I went to Wally world today, and they only had CPHP in .177...sigh..  I haven't found them yet locally, but I'll try a couple more places later this week....worst comes to worst, I'll have to order them.

I hear what you are saying.  it is hard to find .22.    I ordered These.  I have found that a lot of small gun stores will carry .22 pellets.  If you have a store that carries RWS. you might try the Meisterkugelin.  My B25 .22 shoots these the best.  Again I have only shot 3 different types in the B26 .22      Glad that my .177 will shoot the CPHP so well.

Here are the results of my latest pellet check:

B26-2 August 30, Five shot groups (See attaached target) If I can do it right--

Gamo Hunters and RWS Hobby best.
RWS Super Hollow Point probably just as good (I pulled two shots)
JSB Exacts probably OK but I keep finding nicks in skirts and deformed skirts-- bad for expensive pellets!

I had sighted in with Gamo Hunters, no scope change for the other pellets. That is why the JSBs are down in the corner.
There ARE five holes in the Gamo Hunter target!

it can take a whole lot of lead through a barrel before it gets good, that and some time pulling the trigger. I've got a UK Webley that is going on ten years old that isn't broke in yet, may have 200 shots through it. Darn thing is better than me now and I wonder how good it can get....wish I had the time to spend two or three days just shooting it

Well that is "bench shooting."  Forestock on my open palm, resting on a large bag, not gripping the stock.  Light grip on pistol grip, pulling straight back on trigger (which is adjusted pretty light).

Time was I could do that offhand-- no more!

As Mike says, keep shooting.  I estimate about 300 shots through mine now.  The loosening hinge bolt and stock screws really caused me some worry at first.  I "hope" that issue is resolved, they did not loosen uring the last 30 or 40 shots.
