Bought a Talon
« on: September 01, 2009, 02:16:55 AM »
Finally got a CO2 tank for it.. Installed same, but the gun's valve assy is leaking...The CO2 is coming out of, what is it called, the "top hat" ?  I thought a few quick dry fires would seal it, but no joy..

Where to start??

Thanks!!

Just to clarify...... your Air Force C02 adaptor is leaking C02 from the tophat ?????   Is that correct ?????

If that's the case make sure there's no dirt or other foreign material inside the C02 adapter that's preventing it from sealing properly.  Try taking a small rubber hammer and just "tapping" the  tophat several times.  Sometimes doing this will correct the problem.....  don't hit it to hard, just hard enough for a small burst of C02 to escape....

The tophat can be removed from the adapter by pulling it straight out.  You can try removing it and making sure there is no debris preventing it from sealing.  Reinsert the tophat and try it again.  Of course do this step with the adapter removed from the C02 cylinder.....

Thanks Jeff...
Well, it's not leaking "from" the top hat, but it is leaking into the chamber area I guess it's not seating properly...I need to find a spanner to get it apart i would think...

Thanks for the help.. I'll let ya know how it goes....

OK..  I took the valve adapter apart, and I found that the valve stem, plastic part (nylon  or delrin) on the stem has some scratches along it's long axis..  I assume that this is what is keeping it from seating on the brass seat that it is installed through...

The leak was through the valve stem, through the top  hat and into the chamber, enough that there was snow out of the barrel and a build up of it on the chamber back to the top hat...Not really a leak, more like a continuous flow... So I'm not even going to reinstall everything until I get a new stem/seat...  This is a used gun btw...

Where  does when get new valve parts from?

Thanks for your help!

Give Air Force a call.  They have a super customer service dept.  I'm sure they'll be able to help you.   If for some reason they can't help you then I would try the "Talon Airgun Forum" ,,,,,  someone on the "TAG" will definitely be able to steer you in the right direction.....
