I posted again because maybe others would be interested in what I found out.

Now that I know I want to stick with airgunning, I've been looking for something with better clearity than the Chinese glass.

The 3-12 power Leepers is fine until I turn it up past 6 power then parts of the image get blurry. The higher the magnification, the worse the blurry patches.  I can adjust the AO and clear those patches up, but it just gets blurry in other areas.  Plus, now with a couple thousands shots through it, the side AO doesn't stay put. I have adjust it each time. Trying to get consistant hits out beyond 30 yards is becoming a challange.

In 50 years of shooting, I've had enough scopes with cheap, low quality optics, and they were all under $200.00. That was fine when I was feeding four kids and had young eyes to make up for the low quality  glass, but not now.

12 years ago, I started spending more to get better quality scopes and since then clearity hasn't been a problem. Of the brands of good scopes I have and trust enough to buy more of, only the Sightron is airgun rated. It has increadable clearity and it's every bit as clear at 24 power as it is at 6. Also, the Sightron has a special elivation and windage adjustment mechinisum that other good quality scopes don't have.

I thought about getting a Hawke, but then thought, here I go again wondering if $200.00, or less for a scope is enough to get the clearity I want. Since the Sightron tech recommended I try my 6-24 on my airgun, and since they are willing to warrentee it for airgun use, I'm gonna take my Sightron off the 223 and see how well I do with it on the Whisper. If it works, I may get a Sightron 3-12  to go on something with more pellet range so I can get those three darn Reds that are staying out at 45-50 yards.

Paul.
