Pumps suitable for early Career 707 .25 Caliber?
« on: September 11, 2009, 05:03:42 PM »
I'm trying to help a friend in Japan who owns an early Career 707 in .25 caliber. For some reason he is without a means of charging it and he claims that his numerous attempts to obtain a hand pump from overseas have all met with failure; he claims that apparently suitable hand pumps are not currently being manufactured! I told him I think he is the victim of his own poor English ability; the notion that hand pumps are no longer being made for this gun must be bananas . . . I told him to give me a few days to look into it.

I'd be grateful if someone would kindly recommend the best type of hand pump for this model of PCP rifle.

And, while I'm at it, can anyone recommend a relatively reasonably sized, reasonably priced compressor that might be suitable for such a gun?

These things are NOT normally sold in Japan so importing from overseas will be necessary. I have a lot of experience shipping to Japan and don't expect to have much logistical difficulty with either a hand pump or a compressor.

Many thanks in advance for your help!

VERY eailer Career (but I do not believe the .25 came untill abit later model) had to point down and a small probe went straight into the fill port(straight in from the nose end), everything after that had a "regular" fill probe which slide in a hole on the front end from the side. The first ones really need scuba pressure to fill if empty.
I have a Career 707 II .25 (about 11 years old) which I sometime fill with an FX hand pump, not a problem at all except the one time it got shot empty by mistake it needed to be cocked prior to taking a fill from the hand pump. A Hill pump would be just fine also AND Hill sells rebuild kits (highly recomended seeing as spare parts may be hard for your frined to find?).
So, sure any hand pump will fill a Career (should he have the ealiest model-nose down filler- it should accept any newer fill port including the male foster on the front of the rifle).

Thanks, John, and sorry for the confusion. It turns out that it is the 707 II. There is a right-angle slide-in hole (i.e., from the side like you mentioned) on the front end.

The Hill pump seems nice. Are there any pumps that stand out as regards the relative ease of filling to full charge?

With gratitude,

Chris
