Creaky Cocking
« on: September 13, 2009, 04:52:09 AM »
I recently bought a Crosman G1 Extreme and while it shoots well especially now that I have a CDT trigger, there is one problem that is driving me nuts. When I cock it, it sounds like an old rusty back door hinge and spring. Really creaky! Other than taking the action apart, is there any thing I can do to the spring through the cocking slot that will help with the noise? Thanks!  Terry

I wouldn't put ANYTHING in the cocking slot.

Either keep shooting until she breaks in and quiets down or tear it apart and perform a lube tune.

I'd opt for the tune. It's not that hard on a Crosman to do and would probably take you about an hour. But that hour will yield WONDERFUL results!

Be sure to check the cocking linkage points. Just a small drop of 3in1/Marvel Oil will help. And I mean a 'small' drop. Wipe off any extra. tjk

Just plan on replacing the seal when you take it apart.  You don't need a spring compressor, either.  It has about 30 pounds of preload and only extends about 1".

Hey,
my crosman1000 sounds like a frog!
took the stock apart, found one thing- the Roller on the cocking lever has a flat spot worn down, at about 500 pellets,
I cut a peace of 12ga allm 1" x 5 3/4 long & Drilmaled out a slot for it now the roller rides smooth on tha metal,With moly 60, then the wood stock.
Is there a site that shows how to take apart a 1000? tune up your self, without getting to deep!
