Qb26-2 - shortened
« on: September 14, 2009, 02:40:32 AM »
I decided to work on this rifle Saturday night. I have had it for about a year and never really shot it much. It
had a slight bend in the barrel and would shoot to the left. Well I did a complete tear down, cleaning and re-lube.
I decided to replace the super long spring it had with one from the qf-2 kit, it was a little short so I added a washer to the base a 3/8 or 1/2" nut on the piston side as a spacer. I know not the best thing to use but it's what was available at the time and I just wanted it together to give it a try. Anyway I also cut the barrel and cocking arm down from 18.5" to 13.5". I made the muzzle break from sch 80 pvc and a nylon washer. Got that idea from someone else here, not sure who but thanks. I have read so many post lately. I finally got it all put together by 2:30 am sunday. Shot it a few times and was pleased. Went to bed and got up around 9:00 am sun. Went outside zeroed it at 20yrds. I took a total of 20 shots to get it set, well all that time there was a dove about 35 yrds away, it never few away.
Well guess what my first live target was. With the gun set I got within 20-25yrds from the dove and let it rip. One shot one kill. I bagged a total of twelve. 3 of them from the same tree. The rifle is so easy to cock and quiet, there were four birds on that tree and I was picking them off one at a time the fourth one got away because he saw me :) I am not sure how fast it is shooting or what fpe it is putting out, doesn't matter it loves destroyer's and tomahawks and dang accurate. I think the 350M and 48 will be put to the side for a while. here are the before and after pics.
