nope, that's all there is to it, what did you think it would mean?  you know that i don't generally resort to personal attacks. if you meant i was implying "rednecks, bible thumpers, gun totters, uneducated folk,...", then you were wrong.
although you must admit that in the southern states general trends are "less urban dwellers, avid religious people, general likeness for guns and possibly even of lower education (although the last one could be disputed)".  i'd of course never take this as being less of a person or use these "traits" for malintent.
