Army life...
« on: September 14, 2009, 12:56:16 PM »
Hey guys...PFC. Scott here. (Formally PVT. Meredith)
Dad I wanted to post some pictures of my "Army life" For you all to see. Hope you enjoy them...

This here is me and Betsy. I couldnt think of a better name.  In AIT (Advanced individual training) I had to carry her everywhere. I even had to snuggle with her at night because the SGT's would try to steal them while we were sleeping. I sure do miss her... When I qualified I got 31/40.. That was in basic though, if they woulda let me practice more I woulda gotten 41/40. Thats how we do it in my family. Right Dad??

This one is me and my best battle buddy doing what we did best..Push ups. We were constantly laughing and purposley annoying the SGT's, so in return we got really good at our push ups! I got 38 on my last PT test there. Oh yeah.

Ok so this one we thought about sending to a model comepetion. Im pretty sure we would win. Anyone agree?? (Remember I still have access to good ol Betsy)

Now for the interesting part...A few weeks ago my unit had to go to Ney Jersey for a training mission. It was very informative and fun. I learned alot and worked really hard, oh and went like 5 days without a shower. Not cool. But Im scared of flying, yes its true. But not only did we have to fly several times, but we had to do it on a huge army plane. A C17. I was terrified. Everyone else was used to it so they all spent their flights either laughing at me or sleeping. I had nothing to laugh about, death is not funny to me. And sleep was impossible. So here are a few pictures of the plane..It was pretty cool because our trucks and equiptment fit right in the middle.. Teh really uncool part was when we got to the training site and they decided to do a crash landing. Thats when you swoop from side to side and quickly hit the ground. I thought we crashed and I think I peed my pants a little.

This was the guy sitting next to me, in between his naps he would try to scare me by looking up and saying..."uh oh..Thats not normal" Or stuff like that. At least he was peacefully sleeping... His name is Scott also..He likes to tell everyone I am his wife. HA

Im only pretending to be happy. Im really thinking...Oh man im gonna die..

Oh thank God they let me off this thing! I made it alive!

The end. :-)

P.S. Dad I love you!! And I miss you alot, I'll be home real soon to annoy the crap out of you! Or will it be the other way around??? Hmmmm Just kidding!! Hey dad you should build me a crib for my baby I'm gonna have. That would be sucha  super sweet present! And I know it would be perfect because you have the best skills ever! Ok get back to me on that one. Love ya!

Dear Pvt. Scott:

Thanks for your service to our country.  Looks like you are pretty well squared away, and somehow, much too young for the job you have taken on.  God speed, young lady.  Take care of yourself and your buddies.  And oh, yeah, smoking is bad for you, girl.  Know your dad is as proud of you as one man can possibly be.

"Betsy" is about as good a name as there ever was for a rifle, good pick.

I guess Armylife has changed a little, but not much- I don't recall kidding around with drill sergeants much, but they were out to steal your rifle, and the pushups look familiar. Note: if you chain the trigger guard to a vehicle they can still steal the rest of it... that hurt...

If you think the planes are bad, wait until the @#$%^#%$ helicopters. They are cool once you suspend the knowledge that they can't really fly. You just gotta believe, and let the rest go.

Thanks for sharing those pictures. We are all really proud of you here at the GTA and grateful that someone will still do your job.

You have joined a pretty exclusive fraternity (sorority?) for life (even if you're not a lifer, vets seem to find each other) and I hope you never regret it. Remember, later when you look back, you will remember the good parts, and the chickens**t fades away. Thank youfor your service! GTA will keep an eye on your old man while you're out seeing the world!
