How many CCW permit holders?
« on: September 16, 2009, 06:42:07 AM »

How many carry conceal permit holders do we have here?

I have had my ccw permit going on two years now. I'm glad I got it before the big mad dash of new registers. Florida is so backed up on new applications,it could take up to 4-6 months to finally get the license . When I sent my paper work, and of course money, it only took like 6 weeks. In Florida, There is no open carry so you have to wear under a long shirt or in the waist band which is the way I prefer to carry. I have three preferred pistols I carry. My Springfield XD45 compact, for those days that I feel like I can conceal that cannon without having it protrude throe my clothing. My 2nd choice is my Kahr cw9, nice little gun and light weight too. My 3rd is my S&W 642 in .38. Of course I load her up with +P ammo for the extra oomph! My 2nd and 3rd choice are worn when i wear shorts. Its always hot here in Miami, so that's mostly what I wear when not working my job. I wear those in a pocket holster. So there you go Guys and Gal's,tell me what you carry and how you tote your bad boy

XD.45 compact

S&W 642 in .38

Kahr cw.9 in .9mm

we call it a cwp in south carolina.  mixed bag of toys from browning hp-9mm , bda380, ruger security six, glock models, 19, 22, & 27, walther pps doa 9mm, beretta 25, s&w model 39, s&w sigma 45, sig-sauer p220 compact, chales daly .45.  the beretta is my pocket gun and the bda 380 is an ankle holster. all others are carried with "in-the-pants" holsters or shoulder harness.  this is the short list of my totes.  i also carry 2 tactical shotguns in the truck....just in case.

OHhHhhHh YeaAAaHh!

Now were talkin. I have a FN Belgian High Power Browning I bought when I was 21 y/o. It was a retired Isrealy Military issue. That pistol has many memories and is still one of my favorites.

I have a little .32 that is a bit too small for my barbarian hands, its a Beretta tom cat.

I got the collector and relic bug last year and purchase two CZ82's and two PA63's in 9x18 Makarov.Changed out the springs to wolf springs to tame the recoil, There the blow back design.

I bought the Mossberg 500 for my under the bed shotty rifle. That bad boy has the extension tube for extra shots

My truck gun is an old NEF 20 gauge single shot I bought way back in the day. They are called H&R now.

I also have an assorted bunch of .22's in LR. and magnum.

Plus the concealed pistols mentioned in the original above post.

My pride and joy collection is my 7.62x39 collection, I have 3 AK's and one SKS. This year I have aquired thousands of rounds of 7.62 ammo before the price hike.

I now am hooked to the world of AG's,and loving the hobby.

Belgium Browning HiPower 9mm
Sig Sauer P225 9mm
Sig Sauer P226 45ACP
Sig Sauer P239 40SW
Colt Python 6" satin stainlless 357Mag
Colt Nickel-plated Police Positive 2.5 in barrel, 38 Special PP
Ruger LCP .380ACP
Walther PPK-S .380ACP
S$W Model 41 5.5" barrel, 22LR
Browning BuckMark, 6" barrel, 22LR

CWP?  Yes, but usually only either the Walther PPK-S or the Ruger 380.  If it takes more fire power than that, guess I am in serious trouble.

Shot placement is the key. 1 round, any round, can finish the threat..."Shot Placement"

You guys use in the waist band to carry? or out of waist band with shirt tucked over?Whats your preferred method?

I've had a license to carry since the Stone Age, - well, not quite, probably about 30 years. In this state, the police dept. (here) or the agency that you apply to has to give you an answer in two weeks or less, - a state law. If you're turned down, you have to be provided with the reason why in writing. It cost $10.00 and has to be renewed every four years.

I take it you're in law enforcement. Actually I rarely carry around town, (have pepper spray instead) - but I do a LOT of hiking or snowshoeing depending on the season, - and ALWAYS carry out in the woods.

No CCW, but I still have the Browning Hi-Power. Mine is 1941 Nazi proofed and it won't be getting sold. Still shoots very very well and sits with my P38 and some similar items. I have other historical and hunting handguns, my very favorite shooterbeing a Ruger GP100 with the 6" heavy barrel, but it is not really designed for carry in the city.

I always thought the Glock 27 would be the perfect modern carry piece, and it is on the very short list of non-air-powered wants.

I guess I am a wheel gunner at heart, and the hammerless .38 (636 or one of those) would be my other choice.

I used to have the Ruger GP-100 in .375 Mag, but I think mine had a 5 inch barrel.  I sold it when I bought the Colt Python, since the GP-100 was too big to carry concealed, and since the Python obviated the need for any other .357 wheel gun. The Ruger GP-100 is a fine weapon.  I never could warm up to the Glocks -- no accounting for taste, I guess.
