I have shot all 4 of them. The price differnce is somewhat large, as you are going from 400 to 700 dollars. let me start by saying that the xl tactical is a smooth quiet and compact carbine, with the emphasis in hunting and portability. Low maint synthetic stock is an aquired taste. I am a wood kind of guy, so i would buy the non tactical. the RWS 52 is the same as the 48, but with deluxe stock. they are heavy sidelevers, hunting accurate and very powerful. is a rifle that will take game at 50 yards, no problem. it just weights a ton so it will be an excellent bench rifle, if it wasn't for recoil... which brings me to the 54. it is essentially a 52 riding on stock rails to slide and absorb its own recoil. You can bench this one, making it a very accurate rifle. Again, weight is a concern. And i do not like the way it slides while cocking. i like rifles to feel solid, as one piece. Your last choice, the TX200 is an awesome rifle. good contender for FT or HFT as well as field work and hunting. it is powerful and it will evn hunt on a .177 due to his inate accuracy.it feels awesome, it looks awesome and is a beautiful piece. the only down side is the hefty price tag. I would choose the TX if i could afford it. I shoot FT and like to do long range work (i shoot a bam B40, essentially a TX 200 clone, constantly bouncing a can at 100 yards. It is tuned to shoot as close to a TX, but at the end of the day, sitting on my man chair in my den, i am still looking at a BAM, and not a TX...
A close second is the BSA, in walnut... and not necessarily a XL... maybe a supersport, which is like the meteor, but bigger and more powerful. I love the way that rifle shoots, sometimes just shooting it to feel the solid thunk it makes when it fires........
