Here's a classic move.
« on: March 04, 2007, 05:46:47 AM »
As we all know the weather has been down right lousy for the past few weeks.  I haven't been able to get any airgun time in. And as time goes by, the need to feed the "addiction" grows. And by golly I'm hungry. So around wednesday I plan on going shooting saturday. No matter what the weather is like. Now my wife doesn't see things like I do. She doesn't like my air rifles. And every time I take the rifle from the house to the truck she thinks something is going on. "You not working today? Lets go shopping." Now I've been stuck in the house for the past few weeks doing "Honey will you fix this."  or "Honey can you.."  I was starting to go mad. Mad I tell you. Had to get outside. But my problem was how to get the rifle from the closet to the truck and not get caught. Did I do it? Nope. Couldn't be done. So saturday arrives and I'm feeling kind of bummed. Then I had a moment of brilliance. "Off to work. See you later." I says. Ya, right. Off to the local sporting goods store is where I went. I'm jazzed now. I solved my problem. I'll buy another rifle. Heh heh. But living in a very small town limits my choice of goodies. I'm just hoping the local rifle dealer can hook me up. So I get there and I'm perusing thru thier selection of about 5 rifles. Pump rifles? No way! My heart sinks. This totaly sucks! Then, behind some rifle cases I see it. Not my first choice, but I'm a desperate man. Winchester 1000. I grabbed that rifle so fast, the price tag sticker could have come off on my way to the register. After a tin of pellets, I feel much better now. Shot the rifle for about 5 hours straight. I kind of lucked out. Not a bad rifle. The trigger pull is horendous. Any mods for this? And can I swap the barrel for a .22? Anyway, all said and done, it was a good day.  8)

Very well done Bob,

My hat is off to you !

You have solved two problems at one time, with great success I might add !

NOW, how do you get it into your house ? Or will you leave it in your truck, for next time ?

Best of luck,

I haven't thought that part out yet. The poo-poo will hit the fan shortly anyway when the PT-80 shows up. I think I will bring the rifle in then. Get it all over at once. Heh heh. This ought to be a good one. Can you say "sleeping on the couch?" LOL :p

Is the trigger like the Gamo's?  I think so, and if so then one of the trigger mod, either the CharlieDaTuna GRTIII or Rich's insert should work.  Now as far as getting it past your wife, the "purchase a new gun" trick was a brilliant way to go shooting, however like most "brilliant" plans us guys come up with, it has a fatal flaw......how do you get it back in the house?  Well, you could call it a "truck gun" and just never bring it in.......but then you have a PT-80 coming, so it'll need to come in anyways....  Huhm, ya know what I'd do.....I'd return the Winchester long gun, get that cash.  Then I'd cancel the PT-80 (9 1/2 pound trigger pull, I just returned one myself).  Now you have the $70 from the PT-80 and the money from the Winchester...another $100?  We'll just say because it's airgun money you now have $300.....$70 + $100 in airgun money is $300...trust me on this.  So now you have $300, which really isn't too far off from buying a Beeman R9, and because it's airgun money, and the Goldfinger combo is only $100 more or so, and it comes with the scope, you can buy that because you are actually saving money that you would normally have to spend on a scope and rings.  Then, because the initial money spent on the Winchester and the PT-80 are money already spent, and the money for the Goldfinger combo was just free money that you got from returning stuff.....you haven't really spent anything, so your wife will be really proud of you when you explain to her,"Isn't this a nice gun Honey, I got it for free practically".  Geez, what would you guys do without me, I swear I'm so freakin' smart sometimes!!!!

You know what scares me the most about that, Dan?  It actually made sense to me.  I think we both need to take our meds...

Guys,

Dano just explained it the way my wife does !

I was out shopping for a new coat, and I saw one that I REALLY LIKED, and it was $479.00, but I thought about  that little shop by the... Maalllll, and decided to check that out before I made a DECISION. Well I found the nicest coat there, AND it looked so NICE on me, and GUESS what, I SAVED us OVER $200.00 !!!
BUTT AS THEY SAY...
She went back and bought the other coat for $479.00 , because it had a hood, and the $200.00 one didn't.....
She kept BOTH of course .....?

But I loved Danos' idea, tell her you could not REFUSE this SALE, BECAUSE the SCOPE ANAND MOUNTS came FREE, SAVING "US" $100.00's  of DOLLARS !!!!

She'll understand that ?

Keep Shootin,

I don't see why it wouldn't make sense, or why I should be taking medication, he's the one who bought two inexpensive air rifles instead of one really good one in the first place, I'm just trying to save him some money.

The trigger is different than the GAMO. Bart sent me some info on it. Maybe after this neek weekend I'll take it apart.

Diabolical....utterly and truly diabolical. There is no way we aren't related!

Gene and/or Bob, PLEASE make this response a  STICKY. Its just too well thought out to let it get buried.

I'm really surprized no-one has figured this out before me.  The only big problem I've had with it is when you get rid of excess rifles and your wife looks at you like,"WTF did all of these come from?" and you have to explain yourself like,"You remember when I took the car for an oil change?  well it was $16 for them to wash the car while they were at it, so I took the car to the regular coin car wash and spent $2 on a car wash, so I had $14 extra bucks....and since I plan on washing the car 10 more times this year I had an extra $140, so I went to Cabelas and bought a new gun.....I mean, the gun was technically free anyways, right?"

Now, since I have two cars, that's $280 a year, or $450 in airgun money, which is just a few bucks less than buying a Airforce TalonSS, and really close to buying a condor....so you see I technically am getting the Condor for free, I just have to go to the coin car wash for the next year or so:)

LOL  You should right a book on how to always have air gun money at your disposal. It is right under our noses and you are just showing all of us how it is done for freee... You should be ashamed of yourself..... LOL

You know though Gene,

my wife is much smarter than me, so no matter what I think I'm getting away with I'm really not getting away with anything.  She busts me regularly, but it's usually cool so long as I can pay the bills.  I will never ever get myself in so deep that anyone starves, and my wife knows that, besides she has shoes:)
