EPA Makes Big Move on Carbon Regs

Under the program, which EPA Administrator Lisa Jackson signed into effect on Tuesday, 10,000 industrial facilities that generate more than 25,000 metric tons of greenhouse gas, and collectively produce 85% of the country's greenhouse gas emissions, must start collecting greenhouse gas data on Jan. 1.

This is, not to use extremist language, akin to the Nazis asking German citizens to identify how many Jews are living in the household. Once the data collection begins, can the fees and fines be far behind?

How much could this cost businesses? And what about a new bureaucracy or expanded EPA to check the findings of the companies... or the lawyers’ fees to settle disputes about findings?
