Webley Tempest/Hurricane parts? 1980s
« on: September 24, 2009, 11:54:22 AM »
I'm about to dive into my 1988 Tempest pistol and before I dedicate myself into turning into a tray a drift pins and springs, I realize, if I bother going into it at all, I should likely replace the seal at least.  Seal and spring at most.

Seeing that it is as old as it is and has probably shot 10k, I figure some of the drift pin will be worn as well.  It has started to mis-fire.  I think some lube or other has varnished over all this time and could be removed.  When I do take it down, I may take video and make a tut on the process.  I'm no expert, but there's not too much in detail on the interwebz about stripping the Tempest down for basic maintenance.

Anyone know where I can get some parts if needed?  Can some of you guys make seals or springs from stock if provided measurements etc?

Do drift pins come in standard diameters?

I'm thinking my pistol only needs a cleaning out and relube with moly, but I have never taken apart a gun that didn't appreciate a new seal.

I have another post on this.  Let the old post die.

I also read a rumor on another forum that Webley may reintroduce a Turkish Made Tempest before 2010.

Thanks for any info on seals and pin parts!

Try this site. It is in the UK but they have a great selection of parts. Their diagrams are great too. Good Luck   http://www.gunspares.co.uk/shopdisplayproducts.asp?id=24546&cat=Tempest
