My new Marauder arrived today
« on: September 25, 2009, 12:26:58 PM »
I received my .177 Benjamin Marauder today.  I ordered it Monday from Pyramyd Air and UPS tried to deliver it on Thursday. Missed the UPS guy yesterday and had to endure the long wait till this afternoon.  It came well packaged and had zero damage even the outer box was in good shape.  First impression upon opening the box was, hey they sent me a 12ga slug gun!  The fully shrouded barrel threw me for a sec.
As far as the Mrod itself goes, WOW.  I'm very impressed with it.  It is very quiet, super accurate and functioned flawlessly out of the box as many others have already reported.  Mine likes the Crosman 7.9 gr domed from the brown box (no surprise there) however it shot Beeman crow magnums pretty well which did surprise me.  I hadn't had much luck with them in my other airguns.  The Crosman pellets averaged about 945 over the crony.  I put 100 rounds through it this afternoon mostly at 25yds and had a couple of groups I was very very happy with.   It took 250 pumps with a Hill pump for the first fill.  Needless to say I'm in the market for a SCUBA tank.

Hey, welcome to the club! I also noticed that it did better with Crow Magnums than most. But, the CPs were the hands-down favorite over everything else.

Good luck finding a nice tank. I went whole hog with an 88cu carbon fiber from Joe Brancato, and it is a very good rig, but costs more than the gun. I figured once and done, maybe a little buddy bottle in the future.

Gonna put some pics up for the Marauder faithful?

Thanks guys.  I sure am happy with it.  Just don't want to put it down.  It's dark outside now and I'm thinking of setting up the portable flood light in the backyard so I can shoot some more!  Noise sure won't be a problem but the flood light might be .

I've been shooting my Marauder daily since I got it.  I fill to about 2800psi and shoot down to about 1100/1200psi.  About 945fps down to 700fps.  I usually shoot at about 20yds and this equals 60 or so useable shots for me.  Your mileage will vary.  The settings are stock from the factory, except I lightened up the trigger pull to my taste.  Currently shooting Crosman 7.9 domed.  Waiting on my four boxes of Crosman 10.5 domed to arrive from Pyramyd Air.  I shamelessly stole this quote from a person on the yellow forum.  "Here is my Marauder, there are many like it, but this one is mine"

Tanks Etc...

I purchased a used carbon fiber tank off ebay for $60 and had to Hydro it $35. Misc fittings and a micro bore air hose to fill it $ 75. Not bad foe a total of $170. A word of caution the carbon fiber tanks have a 15 yr useable life. make sure you can see or know the MFG date. good hunting.

This tank on ebay is $250 - $275 buy it now Mfg date 2001- I believe that a 30 min scba tank is a 66CuFt a 45 min scba tank is 80 CUFT and a 60 min SCBA tank is an 88 CUFT tank

Where do you go to fill 4500 pounds of pressure in these tanks?
