Gene, you're killing me!  I never catch these elusive find of the century deals!  I think part of the AG addiction is the constant hunt for a great deal!

The hunt goes on.  I just need to find that Disco deal again!

Gene, I just bought a Crosman G1 from Dick's and installed a CDT trigger. While it is shooting alright, I'm always looking for a better gun. In your professional opinion, which one is better, the G1 or the Gamo Silver Shadow?  Thanks!  Terry

Terry, I have not really shot the G-1 that much but I think many on the GTA have and also have owned both Gamo and Crosman springers. They may be able to give you some input.

I am a bit biosed with the Gamo's..:) I like the original Gamo Shadow 1000's which is the same as the Silver Shadow..:) They are in my opinion fine shooting springers when they have been finished off with some TLC. Just like the Crosman's. They all need to be finished off with some TLC..:) I still own about 7 Gamo break barrels and no Crosman's..:)

Hope that helps...:)

Terry,,,

Like Gene I also like the "original" GAMO Shadows and I have 3 of them, all good shooters.  I also have a G-1 Extreme that I picked up at Walmart and it also is a good shooter.  Comparing the rifles I would have to say that I like the synthetic stock on the G-1 much more than the GAMO synthetic stock.  The G-1 stock is build much more "solid" and as a result doesn't vibrate and twang as much as the GAMO stock.  I also find the G-1 stock to be much more comfortable than the GAMO stock.  As for accuracy I'd say they are just about even.  With regard to power, I'd give the slight edge to the GAMO shadow, but it's not really enough to make a difference with regard to hunting, however in the "firing behavior" department I'd have to go with the G-1,,,, out of the box I just found it to be much more twang free with much less vibration (again the stock factor) and just a bit better as far as out of the box performance.  I have since done a full tune on my G-1 due to a piston seal that got damaged and the rifle is just about as sweet as you can get.

All that being said though,,,, $89.95 for a Silver Shadow is a great price.

For that price have them send it to someone who lives in another state and then have them ship it to you.. That is a great price and not one to pass up.
