Did some shadow crony testing...
« on: March 05, 2007, 11:39:38 AM »
I went and had the girlfriend take me to get a f1 chrony today and tested out my shadow after i had kinda tuned it and put a new spring in.
I have to go home and get the list but the average is about 880's with maybe 10-15fps deviation. This was with shooting crosman pointed (7.9grain) and with jsb's it shot about 860. Ill have a more Comprehensive breakdown tonite.
Dose that seem normal at all? I see some are shooting well into the 900's

Seems normal to me.  Don't forget that everyone's gun is gonna shoot different pellets at different speeds.

My CDT Tuned Shadow puts the CP's out at 890.

I just recently chrony'd a friends Shadow using his pellet of choice, CPHP 7.9 g , and his rifles FPS average was just around what your is.

I chrony'd one of my shadows using the same pellets and the average FPS was around  930.
Like Mamba said,,, different rifles can shoot at different  FPS.

Sorry for not posting them right away, been out with tons of homework :(

Anyways on to the good stuff....

Crosman Hunting (7.9grain)
876
874
891
866
850
875
873
886
873
874
Average fps 873.8
max deviation 41
Energy 13.37ft.lbs

Jsb predators
863
869
868
864
870
863
861
871
860
868
Average fps 865.7
max deviation 11fps
Energy 13.63 ft.lbs

And finally Crosman Premier HP
868
869
884
868
871
881
871
874
876
869
Average fps 873.1
Max deviation 13fps
Energy 13.37 ft.lbs

I have the hunch the velocity deviation is mostly due to the pellets used. The crosman hunting are a little looser fitting than the premiers and the jsb are the tightest in the barrel. These were all that I had at the time to test with. Id like to try something heavyer later on, maybe some jsb heavy's and jsb exacts. Before it proved that the crosman hunting were the most accurate out of the bunch. But with a new spring and the gun shooting normal again it could prove to be different.

Any thoughts?
