Going hunting in Salado Texas in December
« on: October 11, 2009, 04:34:27 AM »
Dad has set us up to do a hog/deer hunt in December.  We can use the powder burners on the pigs at night, and crossbows for deer during the day.  Since I am honestly not that interested in the deer(not saying I won't take one with the chance), I was considering bringing my new to me 850, since I know that the racoons and possums will be out too.  Guide said 20-40 yards, so I need to get the gun scoped and sighted in for probably around 30 and figure drops out.  Roald from the 850 store suggested Kodiaks or Beeman FTS for the job, and to stick with headshots on the racoons.  Seems doable with a few AS cartridges through the gun first.  Any comments or sugestions on pellets, sighting in, or pellet placement?  SHot string on CO2 at 77F was 719 max and 711 minimum.  If I can find the right deal, and someone with a scuba tank or pump in Austin, I might go HPA early and get the gun ready to stretch it's legs. DOn't want to buy  scuba tank until I am living in the states, but if someone can top off a HPA tank 1-2 times, I would be set.
