B21 vs B30
« on: October 12, 2009, 01:57:30 AM »
What is the difference betweent them other than barrel length.  I notice that they list 100 fps difference.  Are the triggers the same or is the 30 an improved version of the 21?  Looking to potentially get one in .22 and do a severe chop job on the barrel.

Opinions of people who have them?

I've got a B21 from Mike and cut the barrel down to 12 inches and if nice and accurate it now is 9 lbs in weight and the other difference is the finish on the metal is it is a parkerized finish but it is a nice dark blue/black but not shiny but looks as if it was glass beaded then blued not the greenish gray parkerized finish we all think of. the trigger is fine the same trigger as the B30 one other thing is the B21 has an extension for the cocking lever you can pull it out to make the cocking lever longer making it easyer to cock but I don't find I need it. and it is a real magnum rifle it 'used to be called the BEAST back when it went under the name of " super max 1000, ( TSA-B21/22 )  Has a 12 in 1 right turn rifling . Howie:

your description of it calling it a beast is not quite accurate maybe an air rifle with a  HOWITZER power but that is not all of the B21

when I shot it at your house at 20 feet the (3) holes where touching each other, with iron sights

it has power and accuracy

imagine that B21 with an improved trigger, I was really impressed with it and it's performance

the RWS M48 does not even come close to that B21 or at "least" my M48, the thing that knocked me out is the same shooter gets' different results with these two rifles

warren

PS: I am the same shooter with the B21 and the M48
and remember \"it\'s 30& the gun and 70& the shooter\"

I've got a B-21 but I wouldn't refer to it as a 'beast' or a 'Howitzer'.  It can manage 700fps with 14.3s, but no more.  I like it well enough, but my 48 will shoot rings around it.  Apparently BAM is now using a less stout spring than a few years back.  I have a JM kit on order...

I didn't pick the name of Beast but that is the name it used to go under a while back My b21 has a JM spring and it is a real shoothe a little heavy but very accurate.  My B-21  has the stamping on the action  as a B-22 made in the PRC ( peoples republic of china )  howie

Warren, so you know I bought the .177 M48 from Tim.  I am so excited I'm thinking of getting a 21/30 clone in .22.  I'm thinking one would be way more practical and more than I need.  Then I can sell off the Career because it is WAY more gun than I need.

So I am in a quandry???  I am broke.  I want a decent .22 cal.  I can get a B 21 for $140 shipped or a RWS 48 refurb $230 or B 21 MM w/ Macarri spring and kit for $250.
What should I do??  Are the B 21's decent out of the box or are they going to need to go on the bench right away (I dont really know my way around the inerds).  I guess I could learn on this one.

I have a MM B 40 and RWS 52 love em both.

the 21 is a good rifle out of the box... just needs to break in and break you in (get used to shooting it...). In .22 is a beast. Reminds me of the old WWll german rifles... You dont need a tune and a maccari spg immediately... shoot it for a while, and then slowly do the tune yourself. Now the 48 is tempting...but the 21 will suffice.

Thanx,  If I had the $$$  I would get the 48 but for $180 with scope and mnt I might just get the B21 and learn something along the way.  I guess it is like a BMW motorcycle or Triumph.  I may learn to love to tinker.

I'm going to guess then that your B40 and Diana 52 are .177?

If not then why not go for something like a B25?  I really like my B25 in .22 and it shoots harder than my B26.  The untuned B25 shoots 720-740 with 14.4 pellets.  Plenty of power for hunting small game.  Mine is incredibly accurate and at about 1,000 shots it is breaking in nicely.

Here's the deal.  Bestairgun.com has them for $139.99 with a pretty nice 3-9x40 scope.  Clear, bright and consistent.  Perfect for a hunting rifle.  It is lighter than your B40 and Diana 52.  Perfect for carrying in the woods for a long walk.

That is a good idea too.  But now I want the B25-2!!! but I can only find one place that has them.  I guess I could just put a nice muzzle break on the 25.
Thanx for your input.

I bought the BAM 3-9x40 scope with the one piece mount as a package deal with my B30-1 .22. I can't complain about the scope, mount, or gun. I like them just fine. I was surprised by how bright and clear the optics are for the price point.
