How much can I squeeze out of my Disco?
« on: October 19, 2009, 11:25:46 AM »
How beefy of a hammer spring can I use before I need to do other things to the internals to achieve more power? Also, are there any helpful links as far as power modding the Disco goes?

Ya Roger, the new Disco I recieved today has the power adjuster screw on the back. The guy used a wing nut with lock washer..:) I think I can make it look a bit more friendly when I get time.. hehe

i used a nylon #10 screw and cut it for a guide for the spring, then i used a socket-cap screw for the adjuster.  a little "cave-man" looking but IT WORKS!  I am gonna take the action out of the stock and bed the stock with leather.  the action moves a little in the stock and timmy thinks the stock was inletted too deep.  i will treat the leather with ballistol before i do it so it won't collect moisture.  i'll show it to you at the funshoot coming up in a couple of weeks.  btw, if you get bored running the lathe, you could make me a nicer looking power aduster screw....ha!!!  oooppps!...i almost forgot to tell you that you can drill the end cap a 1/4 deeper then you can lower the power down to about 14 fpe and get about 100 shots before recharging!

Man, I've go to get a chrony. I modded my Disco in a similar way, however I used a hollow brass insert as a spring guide. The hollow brass insert still allows the degassing tool to work, with the hole small enough to use the adjusting screw effectively. I should add, that I tore down my Disco after firing about 650 shots and found that the factory spring was slightly arched and bent on one end. As well it measured about 3/16" shorter than the new one I ordered from Crosman. With the new spring and power adjuster, I find a noticeable improvement, however, I also find that I have fewer shots per fill. But being cold as it is here, it's no wonder I have less shots.

with only a spring change find a 22xx HEAVY power spring ($8.00 + $3.00 s/h) now that was filled as high as I was willing (2200psi) and there was NO power curve just a steady drop so one would need to either trim it a bit or overfill more than I am willing to get a good curve. I plan on trimming the spring untill I get a nice bell curve at 2200psi.

I've had a drop in shots on my new Disco too, but cold weather has nothing to do with it.

When I narrow it down, I'll get back and report.

look on the yellow forun classifieds.   i think it's bushidoselfdefense@gmail.com - but check to make sure.   he'll only take money orders.   i got one for my daughters 2400kt - and it bumped it to about 680 fps from 625 w/ hobbys.    it was too hard for her to cock so i put it in my disco.......damnitt...........it's shooting WELL over 920 fps w/ 16 gr wolverines.    but you better have a baffle !!    it gets only 25 shots from 2200 psi - but it goes right through ravens at 40 yards.   i'm desperately needing one of those small portable fill tanks and hose now.   - paul.
