Carnival Star shooting game???

When I was target shooting this weekend I was reminded of the carnival red star shooting game. You get I believe 100 BB's at the carnival so how about we start with 50 or 75 pellets and see what happens.

I found a red star target but could not past it. I'll keep trying.

Get your magnifying glass so you can find every single teeny-weeny red thread like those carnies.  And don't forget a red felt tip to palm.  I never knew anyone who completely shot out the star, but it sure was fun!

That game is IMPOSSIBLE to win. They don't use BB's either. They use lead bird shot thats been recycled over and over again. Don't shoot straight. Then like mentioned above, they nickle n dime the SMALLEST piece of red they find.

It IS a fun game though!

I did shoot out the star twice as a teenager, the carnie had to check twice but I did win the big prize and quickly gave it away so I did not have to lug it around. Brings me back many years.

Also the paper wiggles after a few dozen shots....so even when hit...the red parts wiggle out of the way.  Fun though.  For this to work.....I think a hard stiff cardboard behind the target sheet would be needed.

Short burst did it for me. So to allow less movement of the target.

Be honest, y'all.  Were you really trying to eradicate that star or just shooting the "machine gun" for the darned pure fun of it?

I never said it would be easy!!! Just a lot of fun and a great challenge.

When I was in my 20's I found one of those machine guns at a swap meet but never did anything with it

I printed this but it only comes out 1.5" I seem to recall that they were 3" or 4". Maybe some computer -Photo shop guru could fix it.

Or if someone has a carnival near they could just go and get the real deal.

Ever notice that if you almost got it and went another round that you only got about half the number of those little lead BBs.  It's a wonder anyone ever won anything at all.  If anyone did, it was most likely on the first go, or possibly after a gazillion trys when they had spent 100 times what the chintzy prize was worth!  Or more often, when a shill "won" something straight away, making it look easy to pull the punters in.

Still fun to give it a go - carnival atmosphere and all.

Hey Red , The answer is both. Man I thought I had it once, but like everyone has said, it is not gonna happen in most cases. Man I swear that fly poop is bigger than the red left on my card. Yes, short busts was my attempt also.I am glad that rifle was empty. I was so mad that the carney would have had a LOT of red on him. [ I used to have a temper.] But it is FUN trying to shoot the star.

My dad used to tell me how him and his friends would shoot the prizes rather then the targets. That's what you get for keeping them downrange... XD

ive never shot the whole star out, i would always have an amr left or something lol. but they rig everything at the fairs and carnivals so you kinda expect it lol.

Those old .22 pumps from the carnivals (which Winchester sold them for $2.00 apiece) are now worth big money.  A collector told me how you can spot a genuine carnival gun from one which has been faked - the front sights are always beat up.  Because the sights were never aligned, lots of suckers used to pick out a gun and shoot several magazines up to see where it hit, then come back the next day to be sure and get the same gun and win all the prizes.  But, every night when the carnival closed, they took a hammer and walked down the counter, rapping each gun's sight randomly before locking them up.  We never stood a chance.
