Yes, it should fit using shim #1.

Barrel is 16mm, the brakewith shim #1... ID .636 = 16.15 mm

At one point Mike Melick was selling smoot 16mm brakes.  They had a screw cap on the end so you could, umm, do what ever you wanted to it.  They are well made and half the price of the one at Pyramydair.  You could ask him and if you really want I can take a picture of mine but pretty much like you would expect a smooth one to look like.

How "effective" is that LDC on the B26?

Well you have a MM tuned 26 so you know that it is smooth and doesn't take much to cock it in the first place.  I tend to grab right at the base catching pat of the LDC and part of the barrel.  I just put the sound meter on it and with the cap off it does 113db at the muzzle.  With the cap on it is 107db.  I'm not sure why there is a difference in sound.  It is unbaffled  meaning it is a brake and any other impact is completely unintended.
