Just ordered one, their web site said "in stock".   I hope it is as good as my old GAMO Delta (aka Daisy 1150) has been.

I received the new 440 Hunter today.  Short review, first shot was louder than a 22.  I ran about 20 Crosman heavies through it and it quieted right down.  Just a small wisp of smoke after that.  Not a bad trigger, accuracy was around an inch at 25yds which I figure wasn't too bad for a new gun not broken in yet.  Cocking is smooth and lockup is tight.  It has more spring twang than any other airgun I have owned though.  My Crosman clones shoot much quieter.  Hopefully it will quiet down some after a few shots are through it.  The catalog in the box was from 2004, so I figure the gun is probably 3- 4 years old.  Came delivered in a sealed box and in good shape.  Ordered from Natchez over the weekend, and it was at my door on Wednesday. $134.00  including shipping and NRA roundup.  Good service, good price, good gun.

Not yet Ed, only have about 60 pellets through it.  Had to go to work.  Probably chrony it after 500 pellets or so.  That should not take too long.

Hey Ed, finally got around to setting up the Chrony.  I have to say that the 440 is the twangiest, harshest, jumpiest air gun I have ever shot.  I have a new GRT-III trigger on the way so that will help with the groups.
Now, with some serious concentration, I can get 1" at 25yds with any pellet I have tried.  I took the rifle apart and cleaned the lube (looked like rusty water) out of the mechanism, lightly hatched the cylinder with scotch brite, and lubed the seal and chamber with moly.  I used the super sticky white lithium (dont have any tar yet) for a light coating on the outside of the spring.  That helped quiet it some.   I have to say that my Crosman Phantom, and the Quest 800 are MUCH smoother shooting and much more accurate for me than the Gamo 440.  More time and a few hundred more pellets will tell eh?

Anyway, here is the chrony results for the pellets I use most.

CPHP avg 888.6
Gamo Match avg 928.5
Tomahawks avg 907.8

These are about the same velocities as the Phantom.  The 440 seems like a well built rifle, and according to Gamo, they are the largest airgun mfg in the world.  Hope it smoothes out and becomes as good as its Crosman clones.

Hi Guys
As a very green newby I expect hysterical laughter at my comments only till they group better. Anyway... I was looking at the NATCHEZ add since yesterday and it looks like I lost my concentration so my order finger slipped and ...oooops-another gun. I just had the people at Natchez send it straight to Charlie for trigger and tune. We'll see how it compares with the ones you tried right out of the box after CDT goes over it. I can tell that it'll be quite better, but maybe we can get Charlie to post the results before and after.
