Benjamin Marauder Questions
« on: November 04, 2009, 10:01:40 AM »
I decided, I'm going to get a Marauder in .22. But I have a few questions.
1: Does the Marauder suffer from barrel droop?
2: How would I go about cleaning the choked barrel? Could I use a .22 bore snake with built in brushes?
3: What type of mounts should I use? (50mm objective)
4: What can the Marauder be adjusted up to in power?

Thanks.

1. No Barrel Droop at all..

2. Only use a weed wacker line with  cotton cloth patch. Absolutly do not use any metal at all through the barrel.

3 Use High two piece mounts. They work well, even with a heavy scope on a PCP

4. There are several adjustment for trigger air pressure and velocity. It all comes in the Crosman manual that you get. Very simple explanations and diagrams.

The Crosman Marauder is well worth the $500.00 you pay. Even some of the higher priced PCP's do not have the features that the Maruader has.

Thanks. How would I go about tying the patch to the line? Wouldn't line that thick cause a big knot?

Use fishing line if you have it. Just make a loop in one end. Thread the line through the barrel from the breech end, slip a patch through the loop and pull it through the barrel.

Take about 15" of weed wacker line. Cut one end so it has a pointed end. I cut the end of line at an angle with razor blade. Use a small nail to make hole in cotton patch. On the other end of line I used a cigarette lighter to melt the tip and smooched it agains a hard surface to flatten it out. That will keep patch from coming off when you pull it through the barrel.

Smart idea. Would it be safe to run a few patches through with "rem oil" on them and then dry it out with plain patches? It is basically a silicone based oil. Did you clean your barrel out of the box? Do you think I should fill it up and shoot a string to get all of the extra oil out of places I cant clean, so when I do shoot it I wont be dirtying the bore I just cleaned. Thanks you are very helpful.

I would only use rem oil when storing a gun for a long time. You want no oil residue at all in the barrel. I normally use GooGone in my barrels if they have oil residue and then follow with patches until no visible residue is evident.  But normally a damp Goo Gone patch should clean a pellet gun barrel just fine. Remember that a pellet gun barrel is not hardened like a fire arm barrel. They are very soft and the rifleing can easily be damaged with a metal pull through or even a harsh chemical.
