My favorite Gamo's. What's yours?
« on: November 06, 2009, 09:54:31 AM »
I was punching holes in paper today and was thinking for the money my Gamo assortment really gives me a lot of good shooting fun. I know you can spend a lot more on air guns that usually follow the you get what you pay for rule but with a little work I think Gamo really gives you a good gun for the buck. With out a doubt my Hunter Elite is my favorite and most accurate, with my 220 as a close second. Both are very good shooters with there favorite pellets. The Elite is at it's best with JSB's and the 220 likes CPHP's. The Big Cat is not bad with CPHP's but try as hard as I may, has no where the accuracy of the other two. Maybe it's the weight but its still a fun gun. What's your favorite Gamo?

The Gamo's will hold their own against more expensive shooter's at the target field and hunting. :) My Viper, Hunter 220, ShadowSport, CFX and my Hunter 1250 are all super shooters but I'm very fond of my 1250.22, she's a hammer and deadly accurate. I'd show a pic of them but their all laying next to dead critters but you can find em in the Hunting Gate and my ALBUM. Those are some good looking Gamo ladies you have there bud thanks for sharing pic's of them with us. Ed

Don't currently own one but I do have a soft spot for the old Shadow 1000.  Can't beat it with a stick.

My favorite Gamo is my only Gamo -- a .177 Hunter 220. Have had it for a LONG time. Bought it before they came out with fiber optic sights. Its size and weight suite me. Most of the newer airguns I have seen are much longer and heavier. She looks like a midget beside my B-26. She groups Kodiaks well and sprays everything else  :o

I'm lucky enough to have two Hunter 220s, so that's my vote. Betsy has been tweaked by both Charlie and Gene, and as a result of that she's one of the finest 220s ever made. With .177 Gamo Hunters she's hitting at 1025.30 FPS and 18.45 Ft pounds of energy on average. I'm sure she will lighten up given time, but she just feels good. This is an older picture, before I took the scope off her I'll post some new pics soon. Betsy is on the bottom. The other rifle is a bone stock Hunter 220. I've been focused on Betsy, so I have yet to do any of the necessary upgrades to this gun (GRT-III). Shes rough to cock and needs a lot of work, but that will come, along with money, in time.

Current weapon of choice: Betsy, my Turbo Tuned Gamo Hunter 220.177 with the GRT III Trigger.

Gotta be my Hunter 440 :)
I got it as a Cabela's Bargain Cave "giveaway" for $90 a couple years ago.

Gave it a GRT trigger and a semi-decent scope, and it cloverleafs Gamo Match at 25M all day long :)
Nice wood, too.

My favorite (and only) Gamos are my Viper and Shadow Express rifle/shotguns.
I had an absoulute riot hunting and testing different hand shotshell loads this fall. Using the right handloded shells makes all the difference in the world as far as these being effective (albeit close range) hunter. They are shockingly accurate with a couple of pellets and absoulutely deadly with .22 roundballs. I need to find the usb cord to my camera to post some hunting pics.
I have alot of higher end airguns, but Gamo makes some good solid airguns and I can never understand why guys want to bad mouth them.
Those Camo Gamos are very cool guys!
Great forum BTW!

I don't own a Gamo yet but I would like to have one of the new SoCom elite which is just they're hunter elite with a new Tacticool stock and have a GTRIII trigger in it and have it tuned,  I've wanted a BSA lightning tactical XL but they don't have near the power of the big Gamo and now that Gamo has the cool stock to boot, its on my next to buy list.
Mike Melick tuned Bam B26,with  Leapers 4x16x40ao scope,Gene turbo tuned TF89 with Barska 3X12X40A0 scope and More powder burners than you can shake a stick at.                  Gun control is hitting what your aiming at

Well Walt,

I love my Gamo 890S, the big brother of the Hunter 440. I always wanted a 440, but always had something else on my short list when they went on sale !

But my 890 is a great rifle and has taken many squirrels and nasty, dirty birds in her time !

The Gamo isnt the bottom end of the air gun market, it's the high middle ! And when you add Bob's GRT-III trigger, it surebrings it up to the upper side of air guns, and it shoots like a Beemen.

That Gamo rifle with a tune and trigger, is a real winner in my book !
