FX Cyclone and Air Arms S410
« on: November 09, 2009, 11:59:31 AM »
Out of these two rifles, both in .22cal, which would you say is the better gun.  Which is more accurate, powerful, gets the most shots per fill, cycles better, better magazine, quieter etc. ect.
The gun would be used for hunting.

Thanks guys!

I'd have to go with the Cyclone, based on my experience with one and an AA S400 (not 410).  Of the qualities you listed, the AA wins in only one category, power.  I've heard the stock 410 mags can be troublesome, not an issue with the Cyclone.  My 400 was a little more powerful than my Cyclone, but in every other way the Cyclone beat it IMO.  Mine was a synthetic stock, something else I liked in a hunter, and something else you can't get in a 410.  Don't get me wrong, I think the AA's are great guns, I just think the FX is that little bit better.

Now if you can let go of shot count and quiet, you might want to look at the Evanix Renegade for around half the price.  Sorry, just got one, and you know how it is with a new rifle :-).  Later.

I've got both of those PCP's....the FX Cyclone in .177 from daved and the AA S410SL in .22 but in carbine version.  In retrospect I should've gotten the regular length one (More shots and more powerful shots.....read that it would be quieter also).  The FX have a synthetic stock and the 410 have a beech stock.  They're both more accurate than me....I've tested them out to 50 meters at the gun range....and shooting off front bag rests....I can hit 10 to 12 out of 15 of those little targets (2.5mm diameter) on the "Steriod 15" target sheets.

I've also read about some jamming with the factory AA clips (Only one comes with the gun)....but have never experienced that myself.  I also got 2 extra aluminum ones from Pomona Air Guns...no problems with them also...but they're $50.00U.S a pop.

The FX Cyclone's clip is only an 8 shot clip (I believe 5 comes with the air rifle).....unfortunately they don't have any markers-lines, dots or notches to tell you you've fired your last shot with that clip.....so you've to keep track of you shots.

I've not tested both PCP's through the chronograph so I can't tell which shoot faster.  But at full power....the AA S410SL with it's .22 hits harder downrange than the .177 the FX Cyclone spits out.  What can I say......I like them both.  Also have the .22 BSA Scorpion T-10.....this one don't have a power level adjuster.....it's just a powerhouse....28FPE all the time.
