Hawke Varmint II 6-24X 44MM AO
« on: November 11, 2009, 12:41:12 PM »
Look what fell off the back of Roger's pick-up truck!  With a pair of 11mm to Weaver rails and Burris Signature Zee high rings, it tops off the little CZ pretty impressively.  Thanks Roger.

Those are sure fancy rings Tommy.. Roger must of slid that one behind my back Tommy. Never even got a chance to see it at the fun shoot.

Or hear it!   LOL!

Roger sold me the scope at the fun shoot before the most recent one.  I only just got around to changing out the Bushnell Trophy 6-18X 40mm AO with the AirForce rings for the Hawke Varmint II with the Weaver rail and Burris rings.  The 24X mil dot should make the small holes the 17 HMR punches a bit easier to see at 100 yards.  I added the scope shade and a trigger shoe along with the new glass.  Trigger pull is about 9-10 oz and crisp.  Sweet!

That said, on J's advice, I am going to mount my Pentax Pioneer 4.5-14X 42mm AO on the CZ-452 Varmint in 22LR (the one Santa is giving me for Christmas, since I have been good) with  a set of the Hawke adjustable 11mm dovetail 1-inch rings.  Should be able to get a 15-20 MOA compensation to set the 22LR up to shoot 50-100 yards with sub-sonic ammo with the scope optically centered.

You are welcome to try out either the .22LR or the 17HMR any time you want, big guy.

LOL you are funny Tommy. I love you anyway..:) I wonder if that Hawke Varmint II 6-24X 44MM AO would make my shot holes look bigger at 40 yards?..:) How does it look at 10 yards?

Haven't shot with it mounted -- the AO goes way down, to 10 yards, I think.  Nice thin reticle cross-hairs with vertical and horizontal mil dots.  Looks like a keeper.  Heck, I paid much less for the Hawke than for the Bushnell Trophy 6-18X 40mm AO I am replacing, so that should give you an idea of how it looks, comparing to the Bushy.  Even if it doesn't make the holes look bigger, it sure makes the rifle look smaller.  Not sure if the Varmint is air-gun rated.  Roger could tell you.  Love you too, big guy.

. . . wonder if Timbo would take a crack at a custom stock for a CZ?  Hey Timmy -- hurry up with Gene's stock.  You should be able to knock it out in an hour or two.  Need you to get started on that "other project" we discussed.  LOL

$59.95 will buy the scope rings....and yes it makes your holes look bigger.  the varmintII is all caliber rated.
