Yet another flashlight deal - Nitecore EZ123
« on: November 14, 2009, 03:20:09 AM »
This one can be mounted easily on a gun, and it is a great price on a backup light. Excellent web vendor for this item, and the Nitecore lights are excellent quality.

Amazingly high output of 180 lumens for one hour, or 20 lumens for 15 hours (simple twist two stage output). Tiny - uses one CR123 lithium battery.
The low power level still produces a lot of light, and a decent beam to light well even in outdoor settings.

Normal price is $52, now $26 free shipping. These will not last long. Enter code NITECORE50 during checkout.
I think Nitecore is about to release a newer version of this light, but this one leaves little to be desired in a pocket type light. Link:

If you don't use/have CR123 lithium batteries, check out the deal for a ten pack, $15. These batteries have approx ten year shelf life, and they pack a lot of power into a tiny package. They can be quite pricey if you get them at Walmart or such. If you buy a couple of these lights, ten batteries will probably last years with intermittent use.

I recommend this little light as a terrific backup, for your bugout bag, or vehicle glove box. Small enough for a keychain, and very well constructed.

Excellent deal. I have an D10 and it's a great little  light.

Too bad this EZ123 cannot be used with rechargeable batteries.

I generally prefer AA or AAA NiMH rechargeable batteries. Sanyo Eneloops using a Maha MH C-9000 charger.
For those of you who might use the light a lot, the Eneloop batteries are terrific, and with the right light, they reduce battery cost greatly after your initial investment. Google and you will find all kinds of references.

But for a compact light, occasionally used, the primary lithiums are hard to beat. You get great energy per unit weight, and a long shelf life. No chargers to worry with. Considerably more output than a single AA (I like the EZAA R2 - it's great with 140 lumens, and the single AA JetBeam Jet-I Pro which are both impressive with rechargeables; but a lot more money.

The $26 no tax no shipping deal is a steal, true half price.
