A few years ago, Virginia Wildlife magazine had an article about the hazards of keeping wild animals as pets. A warden wrote that he had a friend who began feeding a fawn which wandered onto his property. The warden advised against it, but the friend thought the fawn was cute, etc, and continued babying it. A couple of years pass and the fawn grew to be a buck. One day the warden gets an anxious call from his friend to come over real quick because the deer was trying to kill him. When he arrived, there was the buck, chasing the man around and around the living room. One look at the buck's swollen neck told him it was heavily into the rut. It ended well but I think that was the last time that guy looked at deer the same way.
A buddy at work who was a big time hunter used to have an old cartoon of two bucks, dressed as hunters, standing next to several stripped and bound men, hanging upside down from a tree branch. A deer warden is standing on the other side of them with a stern expression on his face and pointing at one man's crotch, saying "Why. this one's not even legal!" Searched the web over and over but I can't find it.
