Looks like there's going to be a B28 in .25
« on: November 15, 2009, 04:27:50 PM »

I just followed HNT5's link in the Bargain Gate about B20's at Best Airgun, and saw that the B28 is going to be available in .25 cal in January.

http://bestairgun.stores.yahoo.net/xixsairri.html

They say "quantities will be limited," and I don't see anything about .25 on Xisico USA's website. Maybe they're rebarreling some themselves? MM do you know anything about this?

Wow! Good catch. That is big news. It will be be hard for me not to push the button on one of those. I always thought the M350/B28 would make a good .25 cal platform.

I was just looking at them,,,,,  looks very interesting..   Mike Mellick, on another forum, made a comment that they used a LW barrel blank and an a copy guide.  I don't own a .25 cal yet,,,, but I'm thinking it might make one heck of a G-hog rifle for the duck farm  :)

Have to think about this one.....  the only saving grace is that they're not available until January 2010..... although they are accepting pre-orders.....

Mike sent them a lothar barrel to use as a guide, and Sonny From Xisico confirmed the rumor to me There Will be a .25 B28, I'll be snatching me up a Mike tuned one for sure!
Mike Melick tuned Bam B26,with  Leapers 4x16x40ao scope,Gene turbo tuned TF89 with Barska 3X12X40A0 scope and More powder burners than you can shake a stick at.                  Gun control is hitting what your aiming at

I currently have a RWS 350 22 that is shooting in the 22-24 fpe range with different pellets. What fpe should one expect out of a 25 caliber barreled 350/B28? I almost bought a Walther Falcon Hunter in 25 caliber but all the negative reviews on the "net" have made me delay the purchase. The RWS 350 has been a great trouble free gun. And I just received a new XS-B26 today which really impresses me for $150.00 delivered to my front door. I would certainly be interested in a B28 in a 25 caliber if it is built as nice as the B26.

Can't say what the factory fps rating will be

If you figure the rifle will produce approximately the same power in .25 as it does in .22, then I would venture that you’ll see 650 to 675 fps from mid weight .25 cal pellets (approx 24 grain). You might push close to 700 fps with the lighter end .25 pellets which are around 20 grains. But that’s just my guess.

I would love to see them get the energy up around 28-30 fpe for the B28 25 caliber. I know that is Theoben Eliminator,Webley Patriot territory and I do not think the air chamber of the RWS350/B28 is quite as large as the before mentioned pair. Maybe I'm just being quirky but I already have a air rifle putting out 24 fpe with certain pellets, albeit smaller in grains, and I would feel like I am just duplicating performance in fpe and the rainbow trajectory of a 22 fpe .25 caliber might discourage me. Still, $230.00 for a 25 caliber B28 looks tempting compared to $500.00+ for a Webley Patriot in excellent shape to say nothing of the $1,000.00+ price tag of the Theoben.

That would be a great hunting gun. I might have to get one of those.

The site I was on had a $10.00 add on for the 22 caliber B28 and a $30.00 add on for the 25 caliber B28. With S&H it would cost about $230.00 delivered to my front door. Does anyone know where one could read up on this B28 25 caliber project? I searched the Internet and did not find much.

I doubt you'll find much data on the internet as the rifle has not yet been released from the manufacturer. I don't know if any dealers/importers are going to get their hands on some of the pre-production versions (if there are very many) for evaluation. I hear what your saying about duplicating the performance and I'll agree about the sweep volume of the M350/B28. If there weren't so many negative reviews (compared to the positives) of the Walther Falcon Hunter, I'd have bought one in .25 already(but I''m still on the fence).  I guess we'll just have to wait till the B28's come out in Jan to find out the details.

I ran across another forum and a guy named Mike Milek was posting some messages about these B28 25 caliber air rifles. Apparently he was instrumental convincing Xisico into making the B28 in 25 caliber. He seems to have a very good reputation in the Chinese air rifle tuning community so I tend to believe what he says...which is...that the B28 will produce about 20-21 FPE in the 25 caliber. That seems a bit low to me as my 22 caliber RWS 350 generally stays in the 22-24 fpe range. I thought the 25 B28 would at least duplicate the 22 caliber energy readings. While these fpe numbers are just figures written on paper and does not take into account the momentum of the bigger 25 caliber chunk of lead I am a bit concerned with the trajectory. If I'm figuring this right then a 24-25 grain 25 caliber pellet will only be traveling around 625 fps muzzle velocity out of the B28. Perhaps I'm getting too caught up in all the fpe and fps stuff and should just wait and read the reviews when these rifles become available.
