Pellets for Big Cat with Crosman Nitro Piston
« on: November 15, 2009, 04:34:11 PM »
I have a Gamo Big Cat with  (Crosman Nitro Piston) spring. I have a Gold (Bob Werner) trigger. I am looking for a pellet that will work with this rifle. I have tried:
1.CPS Match                               7.9g
2.CPHP                                       7.9g
3.CP Wad cutters                       7.4g
4.C Copperheads                       7.4g?
5.Daisy Pointed Field                  7.2g?
6.Daisy Precision Flat Nose        7.8g

These seem to be a little on the light side. I was thinking of trying these:
1. JSB Diablo Domed                        8.4g
2. RWS Superdome                          8.3g
3. CP Ultra Mag RN                         10.5g
4. RWS Supermag WC                      9.3g
5. RWS Meisterkugein WC                8.2g

Do you guys have any better ideas for pellets? I shoot indoors at paper (50 feet) during the winter months. Thank You

Not to hijack, but I'm also shooting a BC and I've been using CPHP's.

I thought I was shooting pretty well out of the first tin, but I started having accuracy problems out of the second tin.

It dawned on me today when I put one in the b/e then sent one 3" + high and left, and then another in the b/e at 20 yards that maybe I've got a bad batch of pellets?

I had a funny feeling about the gun recently. Like it was sort of out of control. Jumping and bucking. Also, and this was the real tell, it seemed a bit loud. That flyer this morning bugged me. I was holding it lightly, and my form was pretty good. I bounced a bit on recoil but I ended up just below b/e on the cross hairs so that confirms I wasn't holding too badly. But that shot was way outside norm. If I get a flyer, it's just an inch and a half or two off group.

Am I dealing with some dieseling? Maybe from lubed pellets?
