a vet needs help
« on: November 18, 2009, 09:48:36 AM »
Please read this is not a scam. The yellow forum insulted me for posting this but i understand   because of all the trash out there that  take advantage of good people. The other night i posted some free pellets to kids whos parents are struggling. As you can imagine i got alot of emails well there are some people out there alot worse of than me i assure you. There was one in particular that got to me from a marine vet.He requested some pellets for his 10 year old daughter who loves to shoot.I emailed him back and asked what his story was .HE was a marine who served our country here and overseas more than once.He told me that they barely get by now i know theres alot of people out there like this. But i ran in to him.I dont know why.To me a guy that sacrifices for his country deserves better.Anyway i posted this morning asking for support and boy did alot of people respond but i dont know h ow to go about this but i suggested we kick  in what we can $10 or what ever we are comfortable with and set up a gun account with precission airguns or any store i didnt say mail me anything so we can get this guys 10 year old daughter a new tuned gun for  christmas anyway alot of people showed support. But now i cant post anything over there they must think im bad or somthing im just trying to share this awesome hobby of ours with ANYONE ESPECIALLY KIDS im also asking for suggestions on the best way to do this because its the right thing to do

Guys on the fundraiser below...

Steve in CT  (Login q1q)

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Hold on a little bit. I am working in the background with Jamie, who is a trusted member and an honorable marine to investigate and make sure this is real. Jamie volunteered and if we can help a Vet's child in need on Christmas we 'll sure do that and I pledged to Jamie myself. But it needs to be legit.

The poster below has been a member only since Nov 1st. no email address was left and I received no response.

Those who are here with us for years and years have seen plenty of scams that took people's money. I won't let that happen again if I can. No one is allowed to willy Nilly come here and start a fundraiser and hope because it is such an honorable cause, I won't interfere. NEEDS TO BE LEGIT.

EMAIL don't post here to respond.

Hello Tony,

This is an honorable and kind thing that you are doing ! Nothing touches the heart like a child, and a Veteran in need.

I see that you have your e-mail address posted here, and that is a BIG PLUS !

Contact Steve, and explain this to him and I'm sure he will pitch in himself, ounce he sees this is a legitimate request.

There are so many scams on the Internet, especially during the holidays, that even the best of them must be questioned so that evil persons are not rewarded for false charities.

We need to be careful here. Gene and I have very strong feelings about solicitations, especially when it come to money or setting up accounts and money exchange of any kind on the GTA forum as is the same on most other forums also. If someone wants to donate something to someone out of the kindness of their heart that's one thing but no solicitation.
