« on: November 19, 2009, 02:24:00 AM »
i have my chrony but my basement is nothing but flor. tubes so the chony does not work without another light source i saw the y had just come out with an led light kit but it was like 80 bucks and another 60 for the battery pack i thought i could do something that would work and not cost so much this is what i did

lights 2.99

took them apart shink wrapped the housing

used the button on the back and fit it to the chny for an on off switch

shink wrapped the battery pack and wired everything up

That's very good! Does it give any errors or it's fool proof & did you put a hole on your diffusers?  Thanks 4 the post :=)

I did put a hole in the diffuser however it is not needed I also put connectors on the lights so they can be detached I have not had any errors due to lighting with using this setup

So what exactly did you do? Use the bulbs of the flashlight andwire them to a battery?

yup, there are 9 led's in each of them, the back of the flashlight(switch) I put in the hole in the chrony for an easy on off ,and it even matched, the battery pack is out of the flashlight as well just wired it all together ,I used phone wire as it is about the correct gauge, put heat shrink around all of the wires as well as the 9 led unit and just taped them to the top of the screens I also ended up putting connectors on the leads to the light so I could detach them
