1377 Trigger tuning
« on: November 19, 2009, 12:10:02 PM »
I've been tuning on my 1377 trigger some more. I had previously made and installed the sear spring guide (with lighter spring) and delrin shims to take out some of the side to side play without drag. I've now replaced the trigger and sear pivot pins with hardened and polished pins. The original pins were .123 diameter the new ones are .125. .002 don't sound like much, but every little bit does add up to a smoother trigger. I topped it all off with a custom .325 wide brass trigger shoe. I tried it out this afternoon and all I can say is I'm VERY pleased. I really didn't think the shoe would make much of a difference but boy it does. Here are a few pics.

Nice job Matt. Where can I get some delrin shims? My new Walther Force 1000 has a sloppy side to side trigger. I need to shim it up too.
Thanks and Happy Shooting!!!!

Dave,

I don't know where you could buy them, I turned those out on a lathe. You might check with Gene and see if that's something he offers?

Tossing around the idea of buying some PTFE rods in a couple different diameters. I could use a meat slicer and cut to my own thickness. But, they want $20 per foot and two 1' rods would cost $22 shipping on top of that. Makes for some expensive spacers/shims. Might have to advertise and sell some special orders here. LOL
I'll check with Bob, Gene and some others to see if they offer some PTFE, Teflon, bronze or brass shims. Could use some all over my AGs. Breach pivot, trigger shimming, cushion and spacing for main spring, etc....

What is the thickness of the Delrin shims you made for your trigger? BTW, I really like your work. That sear spring guide assembly is sweet.

I don't remember right off the top of my head. It's not easy to get an exact measurement on the trigger housing so I made up several shims starting at .012 thick and going to .027 thick, then I tried different combos of shims, one on each side of the trigger, until I was happy with the fit and feel.
