It is all too easy to pick them up, here and there, as you go along. I made up a "short list" and then realized it would be fifteen guns. Seriously need to let some water out of the spillway before the dam bursts. Of course, you can do half a dozen or so if you have one or two of each type (i.e. - springer, pneumatic multi pump and single pump), indoor shooter, outdoor hunting gun, couple of "antiques", etc, etc, ad infinitum.)

When do you stop thinking about it?  When you are dead.

Hello to you ledtone, the truth is, the truth is avoided in the case of the airgun addict, lest reality set in.  Facing the reality of the addiction might cost the addict a couple new shooters, then where would he be......but without a fix.
If he doesn't face reality there can be no chance of change or adjustment.  And futhermore, who is it that has the power to deliver the addict from his or her chains, and who can deliver the addict who doesn't want to be delivered????

The fact is, reality is evasive for the addicted airgunner, or is it that the addicted airgunner evaids reality,  hugh which one???.   It seems that most airgun addicts are men, and we all know most men only change if the wife demands it.    And if i admit this now, later i will swear i did not,  but most men change when their wives demand it, (did i say that already)  and even then they ususlly need to spend a few nights on the couch just to find out if she is serious.  But convince her that she is the most important thing in your life and she will be picking out new airguns for you to buy.

So if you find yourself calculating most everything in airgun cost, that is normal.

If you told the wife you want a new air gun for christmas, instead of a gift of her choosing, that is also normal.

If you are constantly figuring how you can laundry the house hold money into a seperate airgun account, that is norml.

If when going on vacation and there is no room in the trunk for luggage due to multiple airgun cases, that is normal.

If you sleep with your airgun under your bed, that is normal.

If you covet the airguns of others, that is also normal.

If you skip church on sunday morning to plink or hunt with your airgun that is also normal, not good but normal.

If you call in sick for work but instead you are waiting on the brown santa to deliver your new shooter, that is normal behavior.  Yes everyday can be like christmas for the airgun addict.

If you find yourself lying to yourself, saying, you don't have enough airguns, that is normal.

And there is so much more that i left unsaid but i am sure most can fill in the blank.

But the hobby of air gunning can truely be holsome and enjoyable if one doesn't go overboard and become airgun dependent,  but could this be a forum of addicts and enablers?????   nay i say,  nay

I hate to say it, but I have been a weapon nut since I was a young boy. I LOVED my Dad's military knives that he brought back from W.W.II, his bayonets for the M-1 Grand, Carbine, M-3 combat knife, german souvenirs daggers, etc.

Then he bought me a bow and arrow, I learned that pretty well by the age of 10 or so, and that has been a favorite of mine until the doc's said that I could no longer do it :(

Air Guns were next, and my first, a Crosman Model 140 was just GREAT, no CO2's to buy, but pellets were in short supply, it did build up my upper body pumpin that thing though :D Then came my beloved Crosman model 600 ! I believe my Dad bought it for "US" !!! But it sure was a FUN :p After that many Crosman and Daisy air guns passed through my hands, even a Benjamin and Sheridan or two !

When I started training in the Martial Arts, a whole new world of weapons dropped into my lap, but I loved them all, even the three section staff, that tended to beat the heck out of me until I figured that you had to think in 360 degrees :o

So just my addiction to weapons alone keeps me happy on those long winter nights :o

That is airgun addiction at its best, even in the first degree.   In simpliest terms, extreme normality, or it could be seen for her point of view as extreme abnormality.  At that point you might want to abstruct her view or change the subject to something like shopping.

Seriously though, i have the best wife, she understands there are certain things i enjoy doing, and when see gets ready to purchase something i support her by going out of my way to help make it happen.     fb

I'll say one thing,

Even though "WE" are addicted to air guns, and other hobbies, here on the GTA we can read the reviews of every air gun made, and make GREAT decisions on our next purchase !!!!

Here in New Jerkey, the best air gun that I have ever handled was a RWS "Diana" 34, and I had to go to a gun shop in Delaware to see that. Not too many nice air guns for sale here :0

On the GTA I have learned the handling, shooting characteristics, the accuracy, and the problems with 100's of air guns. I have also been introduced to air guns that I never knew existed. This makes it so much easier to make in informed decisions.

Who would have thunk that the IZU 46M could be such an accurate pistol, and who would have thought that Mike Melick sold the best tuned B-26 on the market ! And I have found out how helpful Mike and Archer can be !

The GTA exposes us to so much GOOD INFORMATION, it makes it real hard to not be addicted to air guns :emoticon: What a way to go !!!!!

Well, I think I been TOO bad!
« Reply #11 on: November 21, 2009, 10:14:45 AM »
After adding one and selling one, I sat down and did some noodling and doodling to see what I ought to pare things down to. No matter how I cut it, I end up with too many guns. Been adding and not really shooting for a long while now. I can recall when I had maybe two or three. Things sure were simpler then. Now I think I might want to return to that level. Plus, the older you get, well, the older you get. Time once plentiful grows short. Hard to sit down and shoot fifteen or twenty guns. Not unless they make a breakthrough in longevity. Might pick up one more simply because I ought to give that particular old model a try, but I will, in all likelihood, get rid of a bunch. Stay tuned. I will post them on this forum first. So, rip that X off your screen baby and get a second/third/fourth job.  :D

To those with walls like that. I certainly hope you have LOTS of photos, receipts and security on all doors and windows. You get a burglar into a house like that and it's hog heaven. Or, worse yet, a bunch of kids who will like noting better than to dry fire those $1000 guns at each other. There's a reason they say "SAFE and sound."
