I know this has nothing to do with AGs,  But how many of you workout ?    With weights or otherwise.

I currently workout with 'free weights'.  But have been thinking of something like a 'Bowflex' for in the house for the Winter.

Have been working out for about 30 years but I still look like ET.  At least to myself.   Mainly, now I workout to help keep my blood sugar levels in control.

At one time bench pressing 300lbs was fairly easy.  But was using a 'spotter'.  Due to age and injuries, that kind of weight ( or anything close)  will never be done by me again.  Have had both elbows broken and I am in discomfort constantly from this alone.

As asked , " How many of you work out"?    With what?  How much weight?   What are your ages? etc.

And if anyone has a "Bowflex" type machine? How do you like it.

I AM 44. FORGET MACHINES YOU WILL WASTE YOUR MONEY AND I AM 100% SURE OF THIS AS MANY PEOPLE I KNOW.



THIS IS THE PROOF P90X .... IT IS NOT EASY BUT ... STEP BY STEP I DID IT THIS YEAR.... 30 POUNDS LESS (SIZE 38 TO SIZE 33)

I DO NOT MAKE ANY DIET, JUST THE EXERCISES .... I ATE EVERYTHING JUST A LITTLE LESS BUT ATE EVERYTHING.


 IN ADDITION I WAS DAILY 4 CIGARS SMOKER...  YES 4 TO 5 CIGARS OF 6 INCHES 50MM DAILY STARTING WITH THE FIRST ONE  EVERY DAY AT 7:30 AM .... NOW I DO NOT SMOKE.... JUST WITH THE EXERCISE ... ALL THE DESIRES TO SMOKE ARE GONE.

I am not familiar with the P90X.  Is it a workout program of some sort?   What ever it is, in your case it seems to be working!   The transformation in such a short time is  quite noticeable.

Must be the island lliving.   You may have found the Fountain of Youth  down there in Puerto Rico  and don't know it .

As I said, I have worked out for years and still look like ET.  

I am going to do some research on this P90X you mentioned.    Thanks.    Mike.

I used to train seriously in martial arts....5 times a week.....2 hours each time.....sometimes more.  Did alot of other activities too.... inline skating, biking and mtn. biking, skiing, cross-country skiing, canoeing and kayaking.  Two things I really didn't like to do were weight training and jogging (Can't jog for beans).  Never got too much into swimming....too much of a hassle.

Nowadays with all the time constrains and little injuries here and there I do alot less; Ironically I train in weights (High rep lighter weights) and jogging to get my wind.  The rest of the activities that I like....I still do...only alot less.

At this time I also do the increased reps using less weight.   At the moment I have no one as a " spotter".   At least not  during the times I want to workout.   And I would not relish the idea of being pinned or injured by a weight that I could not handle.

Jorge,  thanks for your advice.  It is very helpful.  Especially the advice on the diet.  Like you ,  I totally changed my diet about a month ago.  Less red meat ( which I totally enjoy) and more vegetables.  Also less white bread and rice.  Believe it or not, I feel better.
