What I like about the GTA - you will laugh at me
« on: November 27, 2009, 03:15:39 PM »
but not at my guns. Seems the rabble VS aristo's debate is raging anew on the Yellow. Cheap guns are BAD...BAD..... Expensive, REAL air guns are GOOOOOOD! JHC! When will it end? At least, here, you don't have to worry if you talk about a gun like the B-3 I just bought and shot a bit and then worry about it like you went to the dance with your fly open. You can type the word G-A-M-O and not have to virtually duck.  :D

Yes Red,

Little people with little minds try to belittle everyone around them so that they feel superior, in some strange way that only they understand !

Every air gun has its place, whether its the beginning of this GREAT Hobby, or its end. Every air gun has its uses, and FUN is the most important use of all.

I wouldn't doubt, if you gave Bob or Gene enough time and money, they could turn a B-3 into an air gun equal to a Weihrauch. It may not be worth the investment, but they all start out with the same premise, to shoot a projectile.

If your happy with YOUR air gun, it's a GREAT air gun !

Thing that gets me is, if these guys were playing golf, I doubt they would tell the other members of the foursome that they ought to get rid of those old/cheap/outdated clubs and step up to some really fine woods and irons like they have. Be tossed into the first water hazard!

Hey Red, I don't own any 'high end' BB-Guns. The priciest rifles I own at the present are my CDT tt'd Diana 34 and a few MM tuned B-28's. I think the longer people stay in the sport, the more their interest evolves toward the better guns. Makes no differece though, if you're happy with what you've got, then that's good enough!!!! I am working towards my first HW/Beeman though. I've shot it before, and I know what to expect from it. Sure it's an excellent shooter both in craftmanship, quality, and accuracy,...but don't think for a minute I won't have just as much fun pulling out my old Crosman Sierra-Pro to spin spoons at 20/30 yards!!! Every rifle made has it's own merits,...and it's up to the shooter to bring out the best in them,.....no matter what they cost!!!! Happy Shooting! tjk

I'm old enough that I've  seen many instances where a good shooter did very well with an inexpensive gun, to know that you can't buy tallent.

High priced guns dosn't impress me anymore - but tallent sure does !!!!

Red Feather, I won't laugh at you-It shouldn't matter if a gun cost 100 dollars or 1000 as long as it shoots straight and hits what your aiming at. if everyone could afford the best most expensive airguns we would never learn all the things we do here-like how to improve our guns and our shooting technique, I've learned more about airguns and made lifelong friends on this site and plan to keep doing so until the day I go to the great air range in the sky. So if the elitist snobs want to downgrade Gamo,Crosman,Bam,Techforce- let them but I'd put either one of my cheaper air rifles up against their hight dollar ones, I have just as much if not more fun shooting mine as they do shooting their high dollar ones, I've ran into the same thing Bass fishing, some guys think if they have a new 60,000 dollar boat and all the latest do- dads that they are better than you but I'm teeling you the fish don't know the difference and I catch just as many if not more and have just as much fun if not more than they do. Maybe we should be the ones laughing at them- what does it matter if a guy can only afford a Crosman Quest instead of a high dollar PCP, the guy with the Crosman can tune his gun, drop in a GRTIII trigger, maybe even a new stock and good scope and he can have just as much fun and more pride of ownership because anybody with money can spend it but not everyone can take something and improve on it, and the guy with the fixed up Crosman will have money left over for more pellets!
Mike Melick tuned Bam B26,with  Leapers 4x16x40ao scope,Gene turbo tuned TF89 with Barska 3X12X40A0 scope and More powder burners than you can shake a stick at.                  Gun control is hitting what your aiming at

Red,
I won't laugh at you I was'nt into airgun's untill this summer.I have owned and shot airgun's a lot.Since im retired and have vision problem's i have a lot of free time
i was playing with a Daisy mod.131 that i bought year's ago.also a savage arm's branded Gamo Delta i was enjoying them as it was a great way to pass time.In June my wife came in from a shopping trip and handed me a Beeman rs2 from Wall World.
Wrll now i'm hooked started looking at AG forum's for info and landed here at GTA.I've found lot's of good info on a lot of AG's here.Since jouning i have built a spring compressor and tore down two rs2's and a Crosman storm. I like to tinker with stuff and cheap AG's are a great way to tinker !lol. The five AG's ipresently own have cost less than $500.00.They are a lot of fun and don't break the bank like my powder's Burner's do ! lol

GTA a GREAT place to be !!

WOW, Gene that QB57 is one sweeeeeet looker :) me likes :)
My little brother just came down for Thanksgiving, I handed him down my Beeman RS2,the dual caliber one. I never shot it so its literally brand new :)
I hope he enjoys it, I showed him how it works and gave him a tin of pellets.
It might have been a lower priced springer, but the look on his face was priceless. :)
I hope he has as much fun with it as i did with my AG's growing up. He's only 15YO.
I love all my lower cost AG's,my most expensive AG is a custom tuned and fully shrouded $225  QB79 with all the bells and whistles.

We wouldn't laugh at you since we all like to do things with out toys, as for me I like to see how I can make them better. I tried to make a stock just for fun just to see if I could do it, and it has ended up a little more fun than I thought it would be and I needed something to do since I'm retired anf a Master carpenter as well as a cabinet  maker. here is some of the things I got into. Redfeather, agreed. Shooting is the thing. I started with a Daisy 880 some years back to plink beer cans. It ignited that interest again. I can afford more, but I like to pay and get what I pay for -- and I'm not always convinced and have proved to myself that sometimes the dollar price is too closely associated with quality. As Gene said, cost doesn't matter -- but two reasons: shooting is the thing, and price doesn't always mean better quality or performance. There are inexpensive guns that are not cheap, and expensive guns that are cheaper than what you pay for them.

I also want to agree with HILMAN76. I used to teach English composition. I've written 8 books. One thing I can't stand in forums are the grammar nazis. In the time I have been here I have not seen one out-of-place typo correction or jab at someone's English. Forums are casual discussion. You'd think if there were someone here who'd be paying attention, it'd be me. No one here needs that kind of grief.
