im sure its been asked,...........but...
« on: November 30, 2009, 06:43:21 AM »
lol....so, i was contemplating a new project. crosman 760,..have a couple that cost me about $10 each at local garage sales.
now, the question is, what rifled barrels are compatible with the 760 ? any valve mods to increase fps ?
yea, kinda cost ineffective, but they look forlorn and in need of some tinkering.........:)

Me too Jim,
I've got a vintage 1968 one I spent all summer saving my lawn mowing money to buy.
I know I need to replace some seals and such but sure would like to perk her up some if possible.
When new, I had her pumped up to 10 (the max) and was walking across a field. I stumbled and grabbed the gun as I went down. I somehow grabbed the trigger and hit the safety at the same time. Gun went off and drove a BB almost half way through my ankle. I was given a tetanus shot and told I could keep the BB since it was so deep. After several years, it finally worked it's wayinto the joint and I had to have surgery to have it removed.
That was a powerful gun and I would like to see her return to those glory days. :)
So, thanks for the question and I'll be watching to see any tips and tricks that others want to share for this long lasting model.
Happy Shooting!!!!

Hi Jim good (?).
my 760 I just put a nice crown on it ! But that did not help much as for Acc, It just shoots where it wants,
Santa gave me the go :) on ordering new parts for my 1377c, A metal Breach & seal kit & 24" Barrel ,they were out of 18" I may cut her down some??

but as for the 760 smooth bore mine is from the 1980's & has some rust in the barrel, but I've been shooting it almost everyday to get it out, using steel BB's or zink ones
the cleaning rode will not work ! unless I take the gun apart?

But that help with Acc? I read how Accurate they are from web sites or from Pyramyd air /& I don't think they are talking about the same gun as I have ..

Mine is no good after 20ft ?? & that's on cans!
some hunt with this gun??
any help too?
Ron

I have a 760 that I was given because the cocking handle was broken, and the safety button was missing. So, I got the parts from Crosman to fix it. It had a rifled barrel from the factory. I pulled the barrel and installed a new smoothbore barrel on it. Gave it to my son. I was planning on making a longer barrel for my 1377 with it, but am not sure, now.

I would have to assume that valve mods would help velocity. It's actually got a bigger valve than the 2100 Classic.

ron....its a 24" . shoots outstanding !, just not enough power to suit me. sear polishing, lighter spring and a flat-top valve and adj piston are in the works as well as some transfer port grinding. hope to get it up around 700fps or so..........
best thing is....its cheap and easy to modify, and theres a grip of info available on how to do it.

so I'm purdy close -with the 24" & new seal kit?
just compare the 2 760 smooth,& 1377 Rifled,
both guns shoot with 3 pumps about 350+ fps.
But the 1377 will loose power the more it's shot?
like 30 times ? I've been just putting more 30W
oil in the pump housing & that helps for a while!

yours looks good, glad to here about the 24"
working (Great)
I saw some on U-Tube that had the barrel raped?
don't know what that does?
Do you?
He was shooting at about 50yrds & hit a can!
i don't have 50yards to play in!!
