Benji Kantana .22 Final Review
« on: December 05, 2009, 07:12:32 AM »

After working out all the bugs my new Kantana is ready for some mods.. Like a new trigger guard, power adjuster and trigger mod.

The new Crosman Benji Kantana IMO is a very nice upgrade from the original Disco. And I have to points to make about the new stock design and trigger. The stock is more robust which feels, balance and shoulders great for me. It is also an ambi stock so lefties can play also..:)

Second is the trigger. Although the Disco trigger can be moded to a great degree the Kanta's trigger out of the box is very crisp. I will lighten it up some but it is an excellent upgrade for the Disco. With the stock taking on the look of the Benji Marauder it really is a lighter and smaller stock. I own some pretty nice PCP's and the come with a big price tag as well. There is no comparison with the metal and wood between them and the new Crosman Benji sereis PCP's. But with that said the machanics of these new babies is very nice and well worth the money if you like precision shooting.

Thanks to Crosman they have made it possible for many of us who could not afford a $600.00 to $1200.00 PCP now can pic up a fantastic PCP shooter for under $500.00 now.

Personally I am very impressed with the performance of all three of my new Benji PCP's. At this point I really am in love with the new Kantana I have recently purchased. Spent most of the morning and early afternoon dialing the Kantana in.

I have mounted a Hawk 4-12X44 AO Ballistic Air Max on top with accushot two piece medium rings. Great fit and less than 1/8" clearance between bottom of scope and barrel. For my eyes this model of Hawk scopes are great for working with in 30 and 50 yards, without adjusting the AO. The ballistic reticule has fine mil dot lines which really make it easy going from 30 yards and out to 50 yards with little hold over.

I set up a chrony and pushed some different pellets across it. First was a string of 10 Beeman Kodiac Heavies 21.10 gn which I might add was the best pellet at 30 yards. I had filled the Kantana with fresh fill of 2000psi. Remember this is a stock gun out of the box with just a dialed in scope and mounts. No bling, no mods at all.

I had set up some targets prior to the chrony and had been shooting both my Disco and Kantana. No wind to speak of and about 47 degrees out.

First string was with Beeman Kodiacs 21 gn

769 - 767 - 764 - 769 - 762 - 765 -761 - 759 - 767 - 758

Second string was with Gamo Hunters .22 15.3 gn.

887 - 878 - 883 - 887 - 876 - 883 - 877 - 873 - 879 - 873

Below I have put a picture up of what the Kantana did with the Kodiacs at 30 yards. I even suprized my self..:) My FX Cyclone .22 would have a hard time with shots like this on a good day..:)

THE ONES I SLEEP WITH: BSA Lightning XL, AA TX-200, AA ProSport, BSA Ultra, HW-97K, Crosman NPSS .177, FX Cyclone, HW-30 Nicle Plated, AA-S200, Crosman Marauder, CZ-634, R-9 DG, Webley/Scott UK Tomahawk, Benji Kantana, Benji Marauder, Benji Discovery.....

Lookin good there Gene.  Did you happen to try any CP's in her?  I'm anxiously awaiting Pyramid Air to send me a replacement Katana.  I'll give a little review also, when I get it.

I would think Jeff if I were a hunter the Kantana .22 with it's ease of weight and balance would be a great field hunting rifle. I have the FX Cyclone which I never thought another PCP could match it as far as weight and balance but the Kantana comes very close..:)

I forgot to post the target that I shot and after reading you're posts I realized I forgot it..:)
