Any DIY,selfers here?? :)
« on: December 05, 2009, 12:40:50 PM »
I am closing in now on the Discovery stock inletting & was just wondering if anyone here was interested in a "Shape It Yourself" fully inletted blank?? Drop in fit. Many choices of wood & accent "Tips" available. I will soon be offering DIY stocks outer shaped as well as finished ones. I have had several requests for inletted blanks. Tim.

That is fabulouse Timmy..:) Could you give us more details on what is completed on the blanks. I am new to this type of unfinished stocks and would like some details..:)

Like is the mounting hole for action there? Is the trigger slot in there? How wide is the unfinished stocks? Etc. etc.

Not being funny but just tell us what exactly do we get in a DIY stock..

Thanks
Pops

DIY inletted blank would be,,,, drop in your action & bolt it up.The outside of the stock would be "Fred Flinstone" square shaped other than outline cut. DIY "Stock" would be shaped on the outside only requiring finish sanding before final finish. Examples of DIY "Blanks" are in my pic above & these,,,,, Timbo.

Well,,,, after spending all my available funds at Lowes/Home Depot this AM I got back to work. I cut out 17 stock blanks for the Discovery & Marauder!! Also plained down 4SS matirial for enough "Accent" tips to do 50 stocks as well as enough just under 1/16" super secy spacer matirial as well!!Oh Yeah,,, got several blanks for ANY kind of gun as well,,,,,, I aint forgot about Ya J & Tommy I got you covered already Buddy!! Prices Ya ask?? Well,,, Im not sure just yet. I am keeping track of my time & matirial costs. I want to be fair & competative. I will say this though,,,,,, I know MANY Folks spend in the $100 range for a plain blank,,, rough sawn with NO INLETTING. I feel I can offer a really nice blank not only of comparable quality of wood,,, but also inletted for a drop in fit & also outside cut ready for final "rounding over" for about the same price.I will soon be offering already complete outside shaped DIY stocks as well as completly finished ones. Just bear with me Folks,,, Im only one guy & I can promise you one thing,,,,, this AINT EASY!!!!!LOL!! Like Steve Corcoran & I were talking the other day,,,,, I said: Man this aint 3 demensional work,,,,, It is 12 demensional!! (He agreed!!) Timbo. Forgot the Pic,,,,,
